Is the new Airport Express base station usable with Time Machine software (which I already have)?

    No. The USB port on an Airport Express can only be used with a printer. Even an external hard drive connected to an Airport Extreme should not be used as a network backup, only the Time Capsule and drives connected to it (or the computer) have the ability to properly store backups without corruption.
