can i use the 1TB harddrive with my standard macbook pro with snow leopard and a 160Gig harddrive

No. This is a much larger 3.5" form factor drive. It not fit physically in your machine. Also, as clearly noted above, it also comes mounted in a drive carrier specifically for the 2009 model Xserve, which you couldn't use and don't need.
For a basic MacBook, you need a 2.5" (a.k.a. "laptop") SATA hard drive. Get it "bare" - no software or mounting hardware is needed for your Mac. As of late 2009, several manufacturers produce them in up to 500GB capacities.- Answered by Matthew R from Santa Fe
