    works just fine

this adapter plays the music from my iPhone 5 on my JBL sound dock. It looks funny, and as the ad says, its analog audio, but it works just fine.

    Works as advertised

I'm using this to connect an iPod Touch to two different iHome clock-radios, a wall charger, and a portable power pack. It works just fine with all of them. On both clock raids, the iPod both plays and charges. It is a little clunky having that extra connector, but I knew that going in.

    Does exactly what I need

    • Written by from Winchester

Like many folk I wasn't particularly happy when I realised I wouldn't be able to use my phone on any of the 5 appliances I have. Initially I tried one of the "official" products off of a certain internet auction site and just got really frustrated when the only thing it did was sync and charged my phone.

Thought I'd hold out a bit to see if apple dropped the price on this item but decided to bite the bullet and popped into the local apple shop and picked one of these up today (was re-assured by the lad in the shop who said they'd happily take it back if it didn't work), what can I say, should never have tried the alternative from the auction site, works in the car and all of the docks I have at home, really chuffed.

I've only knocked it down a star due to the cost but hey-ho that's the world we live in today.

It does exactly what I need it to do, great product.

Does what I need it too

I lost the cable that came with my iPod Touch 5th gen so I got this adapter. I have like 10 30pin cables so the adapter is super helpful. A lot of people complained about it having issues with cases. That only applies if you have one that covers the bottom of the device. Overall it works great.

Perfect to match with old 30pin docking systems

    • Written by from AMMANFORD

Allows my iPhone 5 to work with my Logitech MM50 speakers and also - most importantly my Dension ICE Lite kit in my car.

Sound transfers via the lightning connector and seems very good quality. I have tried cheaper alternatives from Ebay, but none seem to allow the sound out via the connector (they charge and no sound) so Apple Lightning to 30 pin is the only way.

I think they should have included at least one with the iPhone to help existing (LOYAL) users!! However, Apple are Apple and realise we will buy the stuff anyway I guess.

    glad it works!

Having read a number of reviews on this item I was anxious as to whether it would work with my docking station. I did speak to someone at Apple and they said that the adapter doesn't work with all manufacturers but that they couldn't tell me which ones! Thankfully it does work on my Red DAB radio!

I do have to agree with other reviewers that it only being available in white is a bit rubbish! Most docking stations are black/chrome and as such when I bought my new ipod, I chose slate so that it would go with my existing docking station, but as Apple had changed the connector I needed an adapter. With the adapter fitted, the docking station and ipod combo looks a bit stupid - as though there is a bit of lego connecting them!! But at least it plays!

And, as othe reviewers have said the £25 plus £4 postage I think is pretty steep for this tiny little thing! It feels a bit of rip off really - it should come as part of the package when you buy a new ipod.

Does not charge and play music at the same time with iHome Stuff

    • Written by from Fort Lauderdale

I own a few iHome clock radios that have the 30pin connectors. Love these radios but now with my new Mini iPad it will not charge while docked. It will play music but will not charge at the same time. Whats the point!!! Apple why don't you get your stuff together and stop making our lifes difficult. Add standard ports and stop ripping us off on all these nasty add on adapters. I carry enough stuff around without worring about more adapters, cords and chargers.

    expensive and annoying..

    • Written by from Toowoomba

the lightning end sits flush with the end of the phone if it's not in a case, but its completely useless for anyone who uses a case... you need to take off the case and replace it everytime you charge with a 30-pin dock or charger.

    OK, but...

    • Written by from Baltimore

My 7th generation iPod Nano has the lightning connector on the bottom right, so if you use this adapter, it's not centered beneath the Nano, making it impossible to use in my existing dock.

makes all kinds of funny noises come out of stereo

    • Written by from Boulder

I have a 3rd party cable with the old style of connector on one end, and USB/audio on the other, which I use to connect my phone to my car sterio.

It works fine with an iphone 4, but once I attach the adapter I get all kinds of ringing noises coming out of the stereo. I can connect the iPhone 5 and play music, but there is always the funny noises. My kids, who can hear better than me, cant even stand the noises during loud music, but I can only hear the noises during quiet bits or between songs.

    It is a terrible product.

    Lightening adaptor

    • Written by from Gold Coast

Why in the world did Apple have to change the charging pin. We have 6 different brand docking stations in the house. One adaptor is,not going to cut it with 4 resident users. At $35 each it is going to work out very expensive to be able to use our new Apple products. From what I have read in the reviews the majority are very unhappy with the adaptor. It works in some docking stations and not in others. Bose units are not cheap and the adaptor doesn't work in it!. I have not seen any products on the market with lightening docking stations yet.
The original 30 pin products fit nicely in the docks. With the adaptor they now sit up really high or off centre and look ridiculous.
Why should we have to buy an adaptor when purchasing new products Apple? This should be supplied free with the accessories.
I hope you guys are reading your negative reviews and come up with something better.
    REALLY DISAPPOINTED.

Works great on my iPad 4

    • Written by from Upland

I had bought accessories for my my iPad 2. Namely an SD card reader so I could upload my SD card from my camera. I was worried with the new lightening, that I would not be able to use my SD card adapter. It works perfectly. The card reader inserts right into the 30 pin adapter. My suggestion to the iPhone 5 users, remove the case. Is it that hard?

B&W All of the (ZEPPELIN`S) Docking Speaker Stations, work fine i say.

    • Written by from Brentwood

The only 1 true genuine apple adapter that clearly works with all B&W docking station, we all know they are expensive to buy but essential, i say dont go cheap on on apple gear & stomach the price tag for genuine apple items.

And it does save you buying a new £499 Zeppelin later on aswell, Hope this has help many B&W Dockers out there.
