    Solid design, easy to attach

This mount adapter was quick and easy to install and maintains the sleek design of my cinema display. I've used it to mount the display to the Atdec Telehook Multi LCD Mount and am extremely happy with the results. (Note: Affixing the mount adapter can be done solo. It took two of us to mount the Atdec to the adapter and then to the wall.)

most vesa arms have 75mm x 75mm mounts. This is 100mm x 100mm., which means you need yet another adapter. this should have just had the 75mm holes drilled in as well.

Standard feature on other, even much less expensive monitors

While this products functions perfectly, the reason for the low score is due to my feeling that this should have been included with my monitor. NOT something I need to go out and spend an additional $30 on. Especially since most other LCD monitors now have this feature built in already. I wouldn't want to ruin the esthetic, so I don't mind that it is a seperate piece, it just really should have been included.

This is for the 20", 23", and 30" aluminum non-glossy monitors! This will not work for the new 24" and 27" glossy black bezel displays, so make sure you buy the right one. Search for the other VESA mount adapter kit, part #MC772ZM/A

A very useful, necessary item if you plan on mounting the 24" iMac. DONT KID AROUND WITH THE TORX SCREWS, they are soft, torqued down in the factory and easily stripped! Get a good driver with alot of leverage before attempting to turn these crews, under no circumstances use the tool in the kit.

I had to drill one out and I thought I was being careful. Why they didn't send a new set of screws with this kit is unexplainable. That being said, once on, it makes mounting a cinch.

I was a little worried with suspending my 30" cinema display 6 feet off the floor on an articulating arm, but the VESA mount adapter kit proved super easy and sturdy. It took all of 5 min to install. I would highly recommend this product to anyone interested.

can also confirm - rubber bumpers should be removed before you can attach this (at least to 20" cinema). after the procedure you may try to put one rubber back. there's no space for two.

btw, why don't apple just make a vesa 100x100 available from the box, like all other monitor vendors do? think different?

    Nice piece of kit

This a very well crafted and machined piece of hardware. It has a nice finish and complements the looks my new 30" Cinema Display nicely. The only slight problem I had attaching it to the display was that you first have to snap on two thin gray plastic bumpers. I found these a tad hard to fully seat in place. Due to the tight tolerances to which this mount is built,y ou need to make sure the bumpers are fully seated or the screws wont align properly to go in the sides of the unit.

Vesa Mount not compatible with support arm sold by Apple

There are two vesa standards and this mount will not work with the Spacedec arm sold by Apple. The mount can easily be modified if you have access to precision drilling and tapping equipment. Otherwise beware of incompatibility

    Great Bracket

    • Written by from Duluth

I used this bracket to attach two Apple Cinema monitors (20") to an Ergotron monitor stand. You will need to utilize the adapter plate which comes with the Ergotron stand because the four holes which are drilled and tapped on this adapter will not work without the adapter plate that comes with the Ergotron. This monitor bracket really should come pre-drilled and tapped for both sets of mounting standards.

One complaint I read was associated with the "unattractive" appearance of the black adapter plate that must be used with this mount. The easy remedy here was to simply purchase a $3 can of silver spray paint and paint the adapter plate.

Looks and functions great! Very happy here!

Strong and well engineered, but the instructions are flawed.

One picture in the instructions shows the attaching bar going in backwards. It won't work unless the screws go into the side that has the counter-sinks.

    VESA Mount Adapter Kit

    • Written by from Roswell

61 of 65 people found this useful

Nice quality mount, I'm extremely pleased with it, same metal texture as the Cinema Display. Kit comes with 2 sets of plastic bumpers (one for 20-23" Display and one for 30" Display), Screws, and instructions.
I mounted my 23" Cinema Display HD to a VESA drafting table monitor arm within 10 minutes using 100mm screws (that came with the monitor arm) with no problems. I'm unsure of the difficulty to re-attach the monitor to the original stand, but it looks as straight forward as the installation of the adapter.
If you have a Cinema Display HD and want to mount it to the wall or a desk arm, this is what you need.

    Review before installing!

A word of caution. The directions for this product are not very clear regarding the removal of thebase stand.

The direction state you must tilt the screen all the way forward, use the provided card to depress the inner switch, and while the inner switch is depressed you are able to pull the base stand out of the imac/display. The base stand will still be connected to a spring load holder which is connected to the inside the iMac/display but will now be protruding out from the iMac/display. This spring loaded arm holder is what you will connect your vesa mount to after removing the stand that is connected to it.

IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU MAKE SURE THE SPRING LOADED ARM HOLDER PROTRUDES OUT OF THE IMAC/DISPLAY AND LOCKS INTO THAT POSITION BEFORE REMOVING THE BASE STAND. YOU WILL KNOW THAT IT IS LOCKED WHEN YOU REMOVE THE CARD USED TO DEPRESS THE SWITCH AND THE BASE STAND CANNOT SWIVEL BACK AND FOURTH. IF YOU FAIL TO EXTERNALLY LOCK THE SPRING LOADED ARM HOLDER AFTER YOU UNSCREW THE BASE STAND FROM THE ARM HOLDER, THE ARM HOLDER WILL DEPRESS BACK INSIDE THE IMAC/DISPLAY AND IT IS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO PULL BACK OUT. (IF THIS HAPPENS, YOU WILL HAVE TO BRING YOUR IMAC/DISPLAY TO THE NEAREST APPLE STORE AND HOPE THEY HAVE THE PROPER TOOL TO PULL THE INNER ARM HOLDER BACK OUT. THIS IS NO EASY TASK, EVEN FOR THE APPLE "GENIUSES."

If you are successful and the inner spring loaded arm holder externally locks into place, installation is very simple.

I disagree with the naysayers. I think that the mount is great! Apart from being slightly bothersome to attach to the monitor, it sits well, matches the piece and does just what it says on the box. Thing is, there are several VESA sizes so you have to get a mount that is compatible. 50 x 50, 75 x 75, 100 x 100 and 200 x 200 are all dimesions which are included the VESA standard. So when you buy your actual wall mount be informed as which sizes it will accommodate and what portion of the standard it applies to and then you won't have to blame Apple for your ignorance. You wouldn't go to an auto parts store and ask for a battery without knowing what kind of car it was going into, would you?

    Easy to Install

The VESA mount adaptor worked perfectly and was very easy to install. The kit came with the screws and rubbers for the 20, 23, and 30 inch monitors. I have the 20 inch, but it seems like it would fit the others just as easily. It even came with the wrench I needed. This isn't really worth $30 as it should be included with the monitor, but I'm okay with it not.

I could not get it to fit following Apple's instructions. With the plastic scratch guards in place, the screws would not line up properly to engage the threads in the holes on the back of the monitor (and yes, I double checked that I was using the correct bits of plastic for my 23-in monitor). I removed the plastic scratch guards and replaced them with strips of folded paper and cellophane tape, and everything fit.
I am very happy with the monitor now that I can adjust the height. My neck and shoulders relaxed instantly.
I agree completely with the earlier reviewer who said that a $900 monitor ought to come with VESA mounting ability. I add that a $900 monitor should also have a HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT!

This piece is exactly what is meant to be. Installation is as described, perfect fit with VESA mounts. I read all the other reviews before and I think that people that are not happy with this adaptor, either bought a cheap mount or have no idea or talent for this kind of stuff. Any TV, monitor, etc. don't have screws holes to accommodate different dimensions or standards; the mount always comes with a bunch of screws, mounting plates and washers. The only thing I could comment is that it could come with my 30" display for the price i paid.

He is correct in his statements regarding detaching the desk base. After struggling with ithe card ala the instruction book with the screen upright and getting no joy, I managed to get into the Genius bar at Asspen Grove in Colorado with only an hour's notice where fiddling to get the card to contact the switch proved to be just as futile. The Tech then laid the monitor/cpu face down on the desk with the card inserted and - Whee! - the mount with the eight screws popped up and locked. Problem solved. The unit is very heavy - two people are almost a necessity, but is extremely stable and does drop the screen down a good three inches. Much easier on my nexk
