Loved this backpack until the zipper failed less than a year after I got it.

    Straps are bad

Should have read the reviews. Stitching on strap is halfway torn, about to lose the whole strap. While the backpack worked I loved all the organization features.

    Good design, but not durable

    • Written by from Los Altos

I bought this backpack from the Apple Store in Palo Alto, CA in June of 2014. Within 2 months, and with very little use, the seams have started to come apart around the outer pocket. I love the bag and the grid organization is both useful and easy, but I had hoped for a better longevity would come with the $80 price tag. The limited warranty also requires the customer to pay for shipping & handling for the replacement/fixing of the bag, which is disappointing considering it means paying extra to get a defective product fixed.

    Great idea, poor durability

    • Written by from Riverhead

This is certainly one of the slimmest backpacks on the market and I love the organizer in the front pouch. I travel routinely for business and found this bag perfect for holding laptop, iPad, phone, charging accessories, passport, and a few miscellaneous tools.

Unfortunately the stitching quality, specifically of the straps, is poor and I have had the strap stitches fail on two bags which is why this pack only gets a 2 star rating. The first failed on the second day I owned the bag and was replaced by the apple store (thanks!). The second failed after approximately 4 months of daily use. I will not be asking for another replacement as I'd prefer not to risk another bag failing while on the road. Bottom line the bag is great for light use but they need to improve the integrity of the straps by adding a bar tack or hot bar seal to the strap end before stitching it into the bag to keep the strap end from fraying and pulling through the stitching after prolonged use.

Cleverly designed organizer; didn't last me six months

    • Written by from Corpus Christi

After using the Cocoon SLIM Backpack for six months I’m having to replace it (trying out the Incase ICON Slim Pack next) because of the zipper and zipper lining coming apart on the GRID-IT! compartment. I haven’t been abusive with the zippers, but the backpack does see use daily.

Bottom line: the Cocoon SLIM Backpack is great for organizing small tech items, but regrettably it is NOT durable enough for use as an everyday laptop bag, not by a long shot.

Loved it until two straps ripped!

    • Written by from San Diego

Over the years I've bought A LOT of backpacks. This is one of the coolest ones I've owned. Unfortunately after a couple of months of use the strap and top handle have ripped and will soon be useless. Returns are such a hassle.

PS. I did not over pack it or put any undue stress on the strap or handle.

    Beware

    • Written by from Bayswater

This is very nice backpack, for your tech, only if you have a bulky laptop, if you happened to have a MacBook Air that this laptop is not enough to make you the back side comfortable, there is only a foam, so if you do not carry big laptop and put an apple there, you will have a hole in your back. Next thing it will always fall on the front because MBA is not heavy enough to compensate weight of stuff sticks in grid-it which is perfect but it is in the middle of backpack. Buy only if you have heavier laptop ~2Kg and more and at least 13". Even if it is empty that the grid-it is heavier than back side of this backpack and it always want to fall on the front side.

I've only had this backpack for 3 weeks and one of the zippers has already broken.
