100% Satisfied. Could not be happier!

    • Written by from Northbrook

Careful, some of the negative reviews are geared towards the other Belkin 5 dock with audio port which was poorly designed because the cable would come out. My review is for the most recent 5 dock that Belkin released WITHOUT the audio port. This is the dock I had been waiting for. It has the built-in lightning connector and works exactly how a dock should work. Just make sure you know which Belkin 5 dock to purchase. You want the one with the built-in lightning connector WITHOUT the audio port. Enjoy!

Finally!! A Legitimate Iphone 5 Dock!!

    • Written by from MANCHESTER

Finally!! Finally!! I have had my Iphone 5 since October and have been desperately looking for a legitimate, quality dock. I have tried a few (one off of Amazon that broke in a few days and another one, Sinjamoru, that I had to use my own lightning chord...not a great fit and always coming loose!) I have had this Belkin dock for a few days and it is awesome. It is a very nice quality product (with a nice balanced weight) that you would expect Apple to back. The reviewers below are right...don't confuse this dock with Belkin's first one that utilized your existing lightning cable. This one has its own cable and it works great. I even have a Seidio Surface case on it and it still docks perfectly every time. I have been reading the mac forums and I know you guys are looking for a great dock that you don't have to spend a fortune on (Elevation, Podi-m, etc). Well, your search is over...a legitimate dock has finally arrived!!

BTW...Apple's customer service was awesome. I called to get a little more info on this dock and the gentleman that I talked to not only knew about it, but he owned one himself. So after a few minutes of him gushing about how much he liked it and giving me some awesome info on it, I knew I had to order one. Also, he said if I didn't like it I could simply return it to an Apple store...more convienent that dealing with returning it through the mail.

So, as you can tell, I am very satisfied with this product and purchase experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone and even bought one for my boss. He texted me last night "Wow!! Awesome Dock!!"

    This is the GOOD one

    • Written by from Oakland

No, no, no. Don't listen to the bad reviews. They are likely talking about the first Belkin dock for i5. The Apple Store stopped carrying that one a week after a bought it in December 2012.

This one is the one to get. It does not require a cable, like the last one. It is sturdy and holds the i5 securely. The Lightning jack even tilts a bit to ease removing and installing the phone. Now I can use my i5 comfortably at my desk while working.

Now, having been very disappointed with the version that needs a lightning cable attached, this one is really nice. The problem with the former is that the cable pulls through when you take your item off. This is so good I am ordering another so that ipod and iphone have one each!

    Be warned

    • Written by from pinner

Early days but so far unit has performed as expected. It appears to be well made and looks smart. My only gripe was its main selling point, that it can be used in conjunction with "most" cases. I,ve tried 3 cases to date including one of Belkin's own without success. If this attribute is the main reason you are considering purchasing make sure you try before you buy!

    Great Dock but not perfect

    • Written by from Livingston

The dock itself is very well built with a decent weight but beware that if like me you use headphones while at work and wish to plug your Iphone 5 into the dock YOU CANT.

That Apple chose to put the jack on the bottom this time around is a pain in my opinion but if you do so at least get the accessories to be able to cope with this new design.

When I get home I will take a drill to the black plastic part and make room for the jack on my Bose headphones; should be easy enough.

Let me start out by talking about the pros of this case: it is well-built and compliments my Macbook Pro nicely. But there are a few things that are missing.

The dock is very lightweight, so you'll have to hold the dock while unplugging. I duct taped the dock to my desk so I could unplug with one hand.

Also, there is a very good chance your case will not fit with this dock; mine didn't. Any case that covers the bottom of the phone (and I mean any plastic whatsoever on the bottom of the case--even a little bit) the case will not go on. I have a Belkin View case for my iPhone 5 and it did not fit because the case covered the bottom (it had openings for the headphone jack/mic, lightning port, and speaker). I cut the bottom of the case and made the 3 openings into one large one and now the phone docks normally. This case is made for people who like no cases or people with snap-on cases. Normal and protective case people, steer clear.

It does what is advertised though, and it is one of the best docks out there.

Will NOT work with iPhone 5s seated in the Apple Case

    • Written by from Gloucester

Just to confirm that if you have the new and very cool slimline Apple iPhone 5s case, designed specially for your great new iPhone, it will NOT fit this dock without having to remove it. I've had to return the item, to my disappointment. The new Apple iPhone 5s case is a type of snap-on and hard to remove/y on quickly. I have yet to see a good quality iPhone 5s docking system that can let you use the iPhone with the apple case. It is not that hard to design by simply extending the lighting connector for it to properly connect. Instead, I will have to buy a iPhone 5s compatible stand or the like and use the existing or new lighting connector cable to my Macbook Air..

    Won't fit a case

    • Written by from Halifax

Despite what the description says, you can't use most cases with this, only cases with nothing on the base of the phone. If there's any additional material (like, Apple's own leather 5S cases) it will not fit.

Belkin Case + Belkin Dock = Doesn't Fit

    • Written by from Kings Mills

I guess it would have been too much to ask your case designers to maybe share what they were working on with your dock designers. My Belkin case is the slim Grip Candy High Gloss Silicone Cover(Black/Smoke) and it must be removed to use this dock.

    Excellent dock and color

    • Written by from Brooklyn

Been looking for another lightening cable to charge my iPhone for a while (after nearly losing the one that came in the box) so decided to purchase the Belkin Lightening Dock adn Sync.

At first I wasn't sure about the aluminium finish (looking for black to competent my phone) but setting it up next to my MacBook Pro I understand why Belkin went for the neutral grey.

I now see my iPhones screen from across the room and my desk looks more organised

    Best Apple Alternative,

    • Written by from Ajax

Since Apple brilliantly decided to not manufacture docks for iPhone 5 and the new iPad/iPad Mini - this is the best alternative.

The dock will accept iPhone, iPad mini and iPad. With the iPad mini and iPad - you must either anchor the base or add additional support to stop the dock from toppling over.

Works perfectly with iPhone HOWEVER if you use a case AND the case covers the bottom of the phone (Over the speaker, mic port, lightning port) the dock will not work. I use a case where the ports are completely exposed and the phone fits fine.

I bought two for the house and I'll but one more for my office.

    Excellent Dock

I ordered 2 of these docks. One of the best docks I've see for the iPhone 5. The lightning connector is actually hinged making easier to accomodate different thicknesses of cases.

Not compatible with Speck cases (or probably any other case)

    • Written by from Chevy Chase

The ad states "Compatible with most cases." Not true. There is a large flange just below the lightning connector that prevents all the cases I have seen from connecting. Certainly it was not compatible with my Speck case. This item is acceptable if you don't have a case on your iPhone but avoid it if you have the done sensible thing and put your iPhone in a case.

Does not work if iPhone 5s is in Apple case

    • Written by from Columbia

I just got the iPhone 5s and the leather case from Apple. This desktop charger does NOT work if you have the phone in this case. Not sure why this charger was not made to work properly with an Apple case . . .

    Excellent Dock

    • Written by from Saint Louis

After purchasing several other docks over the last few months, and returning them all, I bought this Belkin dock, which is superb. The iPhone 5 docks easily; the dock is attractive; and a lightening connection and cord are built-in. I bought a second dock as well.

Just to say, however, the dock may not work with your particular iPhone case: I have several Speck cases that I rotate, and the phone docks only when using the CandyShell Flip, in which case it docks perfectly.

Will not work after iOS updates!!!!

    • Written by from BROOKLYN

This charging dock worked great for a few weeks but when I updated the software on my iPhone5, it no longer charges. Only an error pops up and says it's not compatible. Very disappointing and now it's too late for me to return the dock. Is there any way to resolve this? Anyone else have this issue after updating software on your iPhone?

Otherwise, it's a great charging dock and I had no issues with leaving my case on while docking/charging. It fit fine. I just wish it still worked for me :(

Very happy with this good-looking charger

    • Written by from NEWBURY

It is a desktop lightning charger, is well styled, elegant and functions perfectly. I use it for an iPhone5 and a 5th generation iPod touch. The iPod has a after-market transparent back shell and fits into the dock just fine.

Some reviewers have reported that the charger does not work. The lightning connector is designed to latch in place, and so the iPhone needs to be firmly seated on the lightning connector. I found that it took a lot more force that I expected, and I was worried about damaging the connector at first. However, I quickly got used to it, and it is now a reassuring connection.

Some other points to know before purchasing:
    - There is absolutely no way that you can remove the iPhone from the dock without holding the base unit. This is because of the latching effect of the lightning connector.
    - The dock is the same width as an iPhone and you will not get a headphone jack plugged in whilst charging. I've not experimented with a 90degree adaptor; this may fit.
    - Lastly, the lightning connector can rotate forwards and backwards, and you will want to adjust its position so that your iPhone rests on the backrest.
