    Rear bottom tabs break

    • Written by from SUMMERVILLE

I've bought 2 of these cases and both broke at the same area where the bottom cover attaches to the rear sides. The case lasted about 5 weeks each time. Bummer. The look and feel of the case are as expected

    Scratch

    • Written by

get this if you want your mac to be utterly damaged and scratched on areas where the case hooks on to your machine. The snapping on of the case scratched my MBP and left white marks which caused my resale value to drop by nearly 50%. If you're someone who protects your product, please do not buy any casing that snaps onto your machine. It kills it.

Not as good as previous Speck cases

    • Written by from Vancouver

I have used numerous Speck cases over the years and this is the worst one yet. The last case kept going strong for 3+ years, but there is serious quality problems with this one. Like the other reviewer, I too had the rear bottom tab (just next to the right hand USB port) snap. Speck needs to really take a step back and assess these quality problems, because other than the tab snapping right off, the case does not fit as snug as models they have made before. I will be returning this and getting a different case or waiting until someone makes a really good one.

    No no no

    • Written by from LONDON

Bought this in October, was really excited with it. Just took it off to clean and part of it very easily snapped off. No faulty returns allowed after 14 days. Waste of money. This item is not "durable" it is flimsy! Do not buy, I am looking for an alternative now...

    Back clip broken

    • Written by from London

The aesthetically is wonderful, has a nice look and the finish is great. After having it for a day and a half without removing the case, I found one of my back clips to be broken and at £45, that's hardly right.

Based on the maintenance of the case as specified by speck themselves, you have to remove the case once a month every three months. If that's the case then the case doesn't stand a chance in lasting if it it so fragile.

Great looks but hard to put on

    • Written by from Langley Park

The case looks beautiful and is light as promised.

It says in the product description it is easy to snap on and off. This is absolutely not true. It is actually very difficult to put it on (granted the bottom is easy) but the top is hard to apply. On corner will simply not snap on as it should and I don't want to break my MBPR so I decided to get a replacement.

Now for the taking off part...yes, the bottom is easy to remove, the top, however, is incredibly difficult to take off and it takes lots of patience to take it off. I have consulted several youtube videos and it's simply not as easy as it might look. Good case (if it actually fits!) and you don't need to take it off and put it back on again often!

    Broken

    • Written by from Toronto

I bought this case 3 weeks ago and the front clip has been broken !! I sometimes move my MBP and every time I carry I do it carefully so there is no reason to break! Its a really poor quality product, wouldn't recommend at all.

    Terrible Case

    • Written by from Montreal

The bottom half of the case broke after only a few days. I own the 17" & 13" versions of the MacBook Pro Speck Case, and they work fine, but the 15" Retina Display version does not have the same protection in the back bottom part of the case and is poorly designed. Save your money and don't buy this case!!!

    Do Not Buy This !!

    • Written by from BRISBANE

I bought this case to protect my Macbook for when i take it to school and after a few weeks one of the tabs on the corner of the bottom shell snapped of. Do not buy this case if you are going to be using your computer daily because it is flimsy and not up to being used continually.

I have had this case for only one week and the corners are snapped off!! Do not buy this thing. It does not worth your $50. I know that it has replacement warrantee but it is going to cost time and money to replace it for free shipping cost and time! DO NOT BUY IT

Seriously great product, to be treated carefully.

    • Written by from Maylands

Pros: An excellent slim fit on the 15" Retina Macbook Pro and looks fantastic with the black matt finish, but will need a wipe-down every so often as fingerprints & dust do show up a bit. Apple logo only shows through when lit which also looks great. Protects very well with no aluminium visible when closed.

Cons: Scratches a little too easily, but more importantly, the rear clips on the bottom section can snap off with rough handling. These can both be avoided with the right amount of care. Matt finish makes it a little difficult to slide in & out of some bags, depending on material.

Summary: Worth the money, but to be treated more carefully than other cases.

    Not Good

    • Written by from SAN JOSE

Speck has been my go to in the past. I love the satin because it has a little staying power, unlike the slick finished cases. The only down falls are the scratches you obtain during installation, and the rear tabs break off very easily. I took the first one back within a week as the rear tabs broke. Knowing this is a problem and there is nothing else (currently) like this case out there I will purchase a protective sleeve to sheath my MBPRD. Bummer, as I originally wanted to reduce the bulk on my travels. Adapting with a frown but i could be worse!!!!

    Cheap plastic. Don't bother.

    • Written by from London

Looks great from the pictures. But once I put it together I realised that the build quality is very poor and two bits that kept the bottom casing together just came off without any pressure.

Don't bother buying this. Not worth it.

    VALUE FOR MONEY!

    • Written by from Karratha

This casing perfectly fits in my mbp. No loose edges on sides... does not obstruct the vents. Definitely worth referring to mbp users who wants an elegant casing but still keeps the "low-profile" appearance. If you know what I mean...

Worst product that I have bought. Should not be stocked in Apple store.

    • Written by from London

I bought this in an Apple retail store and it broke one week after purchase, all of the clip features snapped off leaving it useless.

Even before tis product broke it was ill fitting, loose in some arias and gaps in others.

In my opinion this product should never be sold in an Apple store as it is extremely low quality and definitely dose not do justice to the Retina Mac Book Pro.

    DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Super Fragile, Broke in a week

    • Written by from Los Angeles

DO NOT BUY THIS, there are two tiny plastic tabs that hold the bottom piece on to your lap top. They are very fragile and snap off in a matter of days under regular use. Save your money and buy a different product.

Nice but more fragile than predecessors

    • Written by from glasgow

Returned mine to the Apple store. One of the back clips broke after about a month through normal use. The rest of the case didn't survive removal from macbook in the store either.

Ridiculously overpriced product but happy I go my money back.

    Fits mine perfectly

    • Written by from London

Reading previous comments, maybe this is really a "case by case" issue. My speck case fits my MBPr perfectly! It is a bit pricy, but people buy it knowing it is pricy, would be unfair to take a star off for that. I bought it to mask my MBPr so that wouldn't look so "apple" from outside, and my colleagues won't be wondering "why is he taking his apple with him to the canteen and not his company laptop?". It suits me great! Besides, it protects my MBPr very well too, for many people this is primary function, although it is secondary for me. One thing worth noting, I was concerned if the case would make the MBPr much hotter, but no, which is fantastic. The temperature of my MBPr usually runs at 39C before putting on the case, and it is still 39C after putting on the case. Great.

Bought it a month ago, was pleased at first but when I tried to take the top bit of the case it cracked so easily since it was that hard I even have a sore finger cause of it.
