I would not recommend this to anyone.Very unreliable

There seems to be common faults with this device.
Oddly I seem to have the very same problems the other bad reviews state.
I will shop around for something else, can't even use this for a door stop...

    Awesome Results

I love my iGrill remote thermometer. I plug it into my meat and it breaks into tune when the food is ready. Gives me the chance to sit and socialize with my friends instead of hovering over the grill and smelling like smoke. I'm a big fan of this!

Read quite a few negative reviews on this unique technology. In all honesty I have owned this for almost two years and it functions flawlessly. As with any battery operated device that is only occasionally used, you must remove the batteries when not in use. I highly recommend this for all Grill-masters to avoid under/over cooking !

Unless you want to spend hours fighting this device and your iPad or iPhone attempting via Bluetooth to pair the devices, don't buy the iGrill. Pairing, even using the troubleshooting instructions on the iGrill website, is hit or miss. The device often becomes unpaired on its own, if you are fortunate enough to achieve a paring, and then the whole nightmarish process of hoping for an easy re-pairing starts all over, often when you are ready to put meat on the grill and when you have guests for dinner. Needless to say, this device can create extreme frustration.

    IGrill and Customer Service

I received an iGrill for Christmas last year and the accuracy and convenience has stepped up my results temendously. I highly recommend buying this product!

I did have a problem with the two temperature probes that came with the unit though. They both just recently started showing temperatures that were at least 100 degrees higher than the actual temperature of the meat. I concluded that it is possible (likely) that the cables of the probes probably touched the grill surface of my smoker and got too hot, ruining them. Even though it seems to be a case of user error, the customer service department at iGrill responded to an email that I sent on a Sunday by 9AM Monday morning and stated that they would be able to send me two replacements, even though I probably caused them to break. Awesome customer service on this product and I will continue to recommend the product and accessories to everyone I know that cooks.

I have been using one for over a year now and I absolutely love the unit. Nice to monitor how the cooks progress. I had some grief with one of the probes just before the 1 year warrenty was up ...called and spoke to Matt in CS and he had replacement probes and a an ambient air temp probe FedEx'd. Received them in 2 days.....just had to pay nominal shipping. Excellent service!

When it's working it does great job of telling you when your meal is correctly cooked. Right on the nose perfect. But probes are VERY DELICATE. After my first one failed it was immediately replaced ( thanks for the great customer service!) I was much more mindful of the new one. However, it also failed and I haven't asked for a replacement yet. I am waiting to hear whether iGrill will be made compatible with IOS 6.0.3.
It's a great device. Keep going guys. Fix the problem sensor issue!

    Great product

I love it when a product works as advertised.
Igrill paired instantly with my phone and so far has not lost connection through two levels of home.
Have used it in home oven and in outdoor smoker 1probe for meat and one for ambient temp. with results appearing accurate. Looking forward to using with BBQ.
Built in hook/stand although looks and feels a bit flimsy works well. Have hung on kitchen door handle, stove door handle magnetic hook on smoker as well as used stand on top of smoker.
An essential addition to my cooking and after struggling with manual thermometers that give inaccurate readings this is a pleasure to use.

I've probably never seen such a poor quality. The first unit I bought disintegrated as I removed the packaging. I returned it and got a replacement unit. Exactly the same happened with the new one and I'll return that tomorrow on a "money back guarantee"

I recommend you to NOT buy this thing.

The probes lasted for two meals.

The probes are so fragile and poorly designed that the manufacturer only offers a 30 day warranty that excludes just about everything that would normally occur while cooking on a grill and starts before you receive the product. The Customer Service is an automated email that firmly reminds you of all of the limitations included in the warranty. It's a great idea and would be a great product if it didn't add $20 to the cost of a steak.

Its a great little device, personally I think it should come with the ambient probe and a meat thermometer, not the two meat thermometers. I think it would be a lot handier. Also what this device really needs is the ability to plug it into an outlet and not run off of batteries. I use my igrill device for long slow cooks on my smoker and having to change batteries frequently is sort of an annoyance. It could be a real great device if it wasn't for the issue that it only works off of batteries.

an excellent idea and i loved using my igrill but once your probe breaks it's virtually impossible to get a replacement (unless you want to pay $80 shipping from the US)
lasted less than a year, waste of money really.

Well after 2 years and the 7th times I used this, it has never worked right. Bluetooth first connected and now it doesn't. So i've been using it as a regular thermometer (which makes me angry every time I use it) and now the readings are way off and I over cooked my Thanksgiving bird.

If you can't depend on something especially on important events - holiday cooking... into the trash heap. It went out with the empty bottles of wine. I should have put it under my car tire.

Oh yea, it's not user error.... I'm in IT.

    My Six Month Review

    • Written by from White Hall

I bought the iGrill for the summer grilling season and first reviewed it then. Since then I've gotten a new iPhone, IOS 6, and the updated iGrill app. The app seems to do what it is supposed to do, nothing too fancy. Pairing with Bluetooth is always a pain. I do not have that problem with other Bluetooth devices, so it is not IOS, but the iGrill device that is a problem. The 400 degree maximum temperature makes it useless for keeping tabs on your outdoor grill. I put the meat on when my grill is at 550 degrees.

I have never attempted to determine the devices maximum range. But if it includes walls and other such obstructions obviously not anticipated by the vendor, it's closer to 40 feet. I'm currently a couple of walls and 30 feet away and have lost the connection.

The device itself is flimsy. Many have written that the stand is useless and indeed it is. I don't bother with it. Since acquiring the iGrill, two of the black screws holding it together fell out. I can't put them back in because there doesn't seem to be any thread in the plastic for the screws to hold on to. Just today, Thanksgiving day, I was replacing the batteries and the tabs beneath two silver screws behind the left battery broke off, taking the screws with them. The company should find better Chinese outfit to build this thing.

Since it is Thanksgiving, I hoping to measure the turkey's thigh and breast temperatures. Alas, one probe now thinks that ice water is 145 degrees, so I can only use the other. I suppose the probes are not dishwasher safe, although probes from other devices that I own are. So with tears in my eyes, I decided to place the working probe in the thigh and use a dial thermometer in the breast.

The iGrill is a great idea with poor execution.

Bluetooth pairing works fine with latest OS. Works fine on iPhone 4S.
Even works from a few rooms away.
Can't find how to get the old-school thermometer on screen but love the temp graphing.

Good idea but poorly executed. Very cheaply made. Difficult to re-sync. Stand is wobbly could see this thing easily falling off the grill's side stand. The app stinks too. The previous version was much better. Who really facebooks what they are grilling?
