Bose qc15 beeping on Qantas 737 flights ?

    • Written by from jerrabomberra

On the first two flights since I purchased the Bose qc15 a few weeks ago, when using on the Qantas Boeing 737 I have a regular, loud beeping tone - rendering the headset completely unusable.

I saw a few forum comments saying to use the 'low attenuation setting' and turn up the airplane entertainment volume, but this is a really half assed solution - with the volume being at an unnecessarily loud volume to drown out the beeping, with it still present in the $400 headphones. It's frequency is about 2 per second and it is a regular midrange crisp tone - almost as if it is pinging to the aircraft strobe lights, rotating beacon, transponder or radar ? New batteries and changing the leads have same symptoms. Plugging in my Sony headphones, or Apple earpieces, or the cheap and nasty airline ones into the same seat - no sign of the noise !!!!! No issue when playing from iPod, iPhone, iPad in same location - it is defiantly aircraft feedback related, but on 2 separate flights.....

    Poor value for money

    • Written by from LA CHATRE

While the sound quality is fine and they are comfortable to wear, mine which are almost 3 years old have deteriorated completely. The ear cushions need replacing too often and bits of black foam covering cover my head after use. Never again.

    Great, But!

    • Written by from Warwick

These headphone produce good sound and have an excellent noise cancelling effect. I do not fly anymore without noise cancelling headphones. The first pair I bought where the first made by Bose, I loved them but after some time the black fabric covering that goes around the ear started flaking off into tiny bits. These bits got on everything and in my ears. I had to stop using them. Bose made some updates to these and I decided to give them another try and got another pair. The same thing happened. I will not give Bose a third chance.

    Outstanding sound, quality and comfort!

    • Written by from Orange

My husband and I both did a LOT of research on all the comparable brands and, although many were OK, none came near the quality and comfort of BOSE. We all HATE the high price, but you DO get what you pay for with BOSE. These are excellent in all respects and the case provided is really excellent for protecting your investment. I am small, 5'1" and was skeptical they would fit or be comfortable, but they are adjustable and beyond comfortable. Definitely worth the money and there are just not enough words to describe the BOSE sound quality!!!!!!!!!!!! My advice is to try their various styles for fit and comfort BEFORE deciding. There are differences.

    Comfort + Quality

    • Written by from Muncie

These do just what they say they do and have excellent sound quality for me compared to other acoustic noise canceling headphone claim to offer. Great product, thoroughly enjoy using them as I work listening to music. Extremely comfortable and I'm able to wear them for hours without irritation while I work!

    Best headphones ever

    • Written by from melbourne

I bought the headphones 5 months ago and the cover everything from great sound to good noise cancelling, they work well with the iPhone and on a plane i don't have to worry about hearing crying babies or loud engines. The best part was when they started to not work well in one ear i called Bose and they were awesome :) but they could not fix it over the phone so i took them back to apple and they looked at them and with in the 1 minute I was their I had a new pair for free no questions asked, no forms, they just didn't work so they were replace. Best service from apple and best serves from Bose. Recommend for every one especial frequent travellers and student so you can study in peace.

    Seven shades of awesomeness

    • Written by from Brunswick West

Have been looking for some good headphones for ages that will meet a variety of needs, both in my work and at home. In my wildest dreams I didn't imagine finding something so versatile as well as awesome in the same product!
These cans are the absolute schizz, and I cannot recommend them more strongly. My music collection has come alive, and the noise cancelling works a treat for blocking out the distracting sounds in my workplace. My work productivity has skyrocketed since buying these a month or so back, and now a bunch of work colleagues are also ordering these.
Buy these and do your ears, mind and senses a favour you'll never regret.

    sound leakage

    • Written by from London

i must say the sound quality and noise cancellation is very good but the worst part is the sound leakage even at 75% sound they leak out too much of sound . i did not expect this bose at least. spending this much of money is not worth because of sound leakage because it is too much. feeling very sad seeing the amount of sound leakage.

Please..... hands down best sounding crisp headphones! I have the Bose aviation headset and those being 1000.00 these have the same qulity and sound as good also the noise canceling is amazing... no fuzzz... when the battery dies so does the music but who cares with the qulity of sound throw an extra battery in the case. you cant go wrong with this choice. There not crazy bass but just clear sound. so if your looking for bass distorted sound dont go with the Bose. (We all know who had the "bassheavy" sound and there the other brand that starts with a B.

    Haters Be Hatin'

    • Written by from Ilkley

I'm a big BOSE fan, always have been. I am fortunate enough have a Bose home cinema, a Bose companion 5 attached to my iMac and a few sets of headphones. The reality is guys you get what you pay for. Like anything, some people prefer Ben and Jerry's to super market branded ice cream but it's all about three factors, personal taste, preference and expectation. Yes, BOSE are expensive but how much does the technology cost to develop? It's like moaning about the cost of a Ferrari when compared to a Fiat500? The technology, the research and the materials are often far superior. These QC15i's are mega. The best headphones I've ever had. I personally have a little trouble with the inner ear equalisation when the noise cancellation engages but once the music starts it goes quite quickly. The quality of the brown ones is fantastic, they look great, feel great and sound fantastic. If £300 is too expensive, they why are you even looking at this range in the first place. I would recommended for enthusiasts alike, serious music heads and those who suffer medically with hearing related disorders.

I tried several headphones at an Apple Store before choosing these. The Bose were the most comfortable headphones, and being larger than other models on display, blocked out the sound more effectively. The store was packed with pre-Christmas shoppers, which wasn't the best time to test audio equipment. However, when the headphones were switched on, it was a revelation - the noise just disappeared! In the words of the salesman "It's like you're not in an Apple Store!". Well, he said it, not me...

I'm not an audiophile, so can't make quantitative comments about the sound quality. I can say that the headphones produce natural-sounding music over a wide range, and I'm very happy with them. 5/5!

    Ears Block

My ears block whenever I put on these headsets, worse than high altitude. Very large headset, falls backwards. I have a fairly small head, Bose headphones always seem to fall off.

    Soul of sound lost

    • Written by from 港区

This headphone destroys the soul of audio, i.e. alters it considerably beyond the point I could enjoy. Drums do not sound like drum, piano does not sound like piano, violin treble sound sadly dull. I do not know what they do with DSP (digital signal processing) but in effect, the music does not sound as it should be.Although I am not an audiophile, sound difference between Bose QC15 and either PSB M4U2 Noise cancelling headphones or AKG K550 closed back headphones. PSB and AKG do a great job in replicating the sound from the instrument accurately.

Besides, for the price, the build quality is abysmal. I could not find any other headphones except cheap sub $10 Chinese ones that badly made. The cable is so thin, which made me worry how long they would last, had I kept them.

Purely speaking of noise cancelling aspect, it did and good job. Still, I could hear some white noise when there is no music is playing. It was comfortable to wear, but like other around the ear headphones, I sweat a bit from ears, when wearing for long time.

I should also note a friend of mine who also tested the same copy of headphone felt the white noise a bit creepy and felt uncomfortable with the air pressure change when putting on the headphones.

Although I found the noise cancelling and comfort good, it failed in it's primary function, sound quality.

Thanks to the good return policy, I could return the product and get the refund. For anyone who wants to give a try for this headphone, I recommend to buy with 30 day money back guarantee.

    Deep pockets?

    • Written by from Fort Smith

Hype...that's the word. Step on a plane and most of the well-heeled folks up front will be wearing these like some kind of status badge.....
But....hear this folks....deaden the sound of the jet rumble - YES. Sound out the frequent turbulence announcements - NO, block out screaming kids - NO.
Now then, foam earplugs do all of the above, for $1
Want to listen to some quality music reproduction (sorry iPhone/iPod users, you're missing out...unless you are 'pre-amped out' to a DAC/Amp) then forget these and invest in some quality earuds/cans and hear music as it was meant to be heard, NOT Bose style...muddy, ill defined bass, no midrange and recessed treble....music for the masses, oh well......

    Absolutely Brilliant

    • Written by from Hong Kong

Frankly, these for the price, are the best headphones on the market. ive owned many headphones such as beats and sennheiser, and i can honestly say that these are the best. i travel alot so noise cancellation was a priority, and i can happily say that these dont disappoint. they are simply unparalled by other products. the build quality is also great, ive had them for 2 years now and they look almost like new. the ear cushions dont tear and there is no way to replace them.. the best feature has to be the ability to switch between frequencies, for laptops, and for iphone.

if i have one complaint, its the wire, which ive had to replace thrice as it keeps breaking. this is because its so darn long and gets caught on something. it also tangles easily i would be happy if they provided different lengths, and make the wire tangle free.

Excellent if your a tube traveller or just want quiet environment

    • Written by from Barkingside

I'm a Londoner so the morning commute on the tube is quite loud and the noise cancelling is the best I've ever experienced, even without music, just turn on and noise such as air movement/speech/machine noise are totally removed.

Fit 9/10, as the ear get tucked in the ear muff
Weight is just bang in the middle and feels 9/10
Noise leakage... Yes but who cares, but not too bad ... But you may disturb person next to you (in a library) if music Is on max so 7/10
Value.... Worth every penny if it had built in battery and anti tangle wire... 8/10
    Build quality 9/10

Movies feel like 5.1 surround sound (if supported), where your can hear and feel as it was actually flying past for example game of thrones battle scenes you hear the surrounding sword clashes/arrows flying past in our head flying past from behind your head to the front (if that makes sense)

One thing it lacks ... Is the apple quality, feels like samsung (plastic)... I mean your paying £300 at least give me anti tangle (that silicone feel) wires rather than plastic and a rechargeable built in battery... But after all us said it is the best headphones in this price and worth the full 5 stars even with its 1 or 2 downside.

Sound is great, build quality is lacking

    • Written by from Los Angeles

I can't fault the sound quality for these headphones. However… disappointingly, after owning them for just over a year, the ear pads have completely deteriorated. The foam is spilling out, and the black 'leather' fabric is crumbling. I wore them maybe once a week on average.

I did a bit of research online and I've discovered that this is a common problem with these headphones. The only solution is to fork out money to buy replacement ear pads, which, for such an expensive product, is pretty disappointing. If you don't mind replacing the ear pads every year, go for it. They're otherwise great headphones.

    Work Great!

    • Written by from Hoover

I use these headphones all the time to block out noise on car rides and while studying. These headphones work great and I would recommend them to anyone. These headphones may not be the sexiest headphones on the market, but they are supremely comfortable and they do not hurt my ears after 5 hour car rides to the beach. The best way to describe the headphones is that when you take them off it sounds like your'e in a hurricane. Buy these headphones, you wont regret it!
