    Great little device...

    • Written by from MAMARONECK

I received the Jabra Freeway yesterday, so I've only had it for a day.

Set up was easy, and it fully charged in approximately two hours with the included car charger.

As with most voice recognition devices, ( iPhone 4S included ) it's not always perfect, but it works pretty well most of the time.

Once fully charged and operating without the car charger attached it has a built in motion sensor that puts the device into power save mode after exiting the vehicle.

Upon returning to the vehicle, the device announces " Power On " and you are ready to use your phone in speaker mode without having to do anything.

The overall sound quality pertaining to clarity and volume is great, and so far every person on the other end of line that I have called has said that the call clarity is very good on their end as well.

If you are planning on using the FM transmitter to send the sound through your cars' audio speaker system think again as it doesn't work any better than any of the other FM transmitters for phones/iPods.

The quality of sound is terrible due to the static from transmitting the music to the radio.

The sound quality of the Jawbone Freeway speaker is surprisingly good for music although it is not as good as the Jawbone Jambox.

( I tried using the Jambox in the car being that it also has a good speakerphone feature and it worked well, but the Jawbone Freeway fits nicely out of site on the sun visor and now I won't have to try and create some sort of makeshift cradle or use velcro on the Jambox ).

For me it seems like a good option for hands free calls and using the iPod in My old pickup truck and I'm pretty happy with it so far.

    Watch out for Voice Assist

    • Written by from Victoria

The speakerphone works fine. The sound quality through its on speakers is good and the mic is pretty good for a speakerphone. It lasts about a week in my car between charges and can be recharged from the cigarette lighter socket in your car.

    CAUTION ***************
Voice Assist was dialed without my consent. This ended up with a long distance charge of 180 minutes and about $60 as it dialed (416) 800-0414 without my knowledge. Took 15 minutes talking to tech support at Voice Assist and they told me nothing they can do about it, its Jabra's problem. Jabra apparently has a firmware upgrade that you can do to disable the Voice Assist.

    Not a good handsfree device

    • Written by from Mississauga

Lots of issues make this device too frustrating. First, auto connect and disconnect, an important feature, but this device does not auto disconnect well, it takes 15 minutes after you leave your car (meaning sound, email and text alerts, music, even the clicks as you type your passwords, come out in your car rather than on your phone for that next quarter hour). Some of those sounds do that because of the A2DP feature, which there is no way to turn off. The FM transmitter does not work well, very noisy. The voice recognition is one of the worst I have ever tried (I have a normal clear voice with no accent), often causing the device to play music or do things I did not request, and I often have to repeat voice commands 3-5 times, and push buttons to cancel the misinterpretations. The voice prompts are a mix of both male and female, which is annoying. Voice volume to callers was fine, but voice quality was not great, and the mic pickup seems very dependant on device position. The speaker/sound quality is the best I've heard, but the other aspects of the device make it far too frustrating to use. I also had to exchange the first unit I got because of it being defective (had a constant high pitch tone, and a hiss, all the time the device was active). I chose another mfrs device that is far superior in every way, made by M.

    Outstanding Bluetooth Device

    • Written by from Wallington

In the past I have been using Jawbone headsets but of late have found them not to be as responsive with the iPhone4 and above, this device however solves that problem. The voice commands feature works like a charm and the functionality of commands it will take works across a vast range from that of phone commands, music commands battery levels and pairing commands.
The Freeway can even stream your music or sat nav voice to your car stereo, even telling you what FM frequency to use or you can play through its built in top quality speakers (3 of them in total) and the sound quality is extremely impressive and on a par with a bluetooth speaker I already own.
Overall if you want a bluetooth device that you don't have to wear on your ear and be able to do more than just take your calls then this bit of kit is the one for you, as a gadget geek this beats all the headsets I have ever owned.

    best bluetooth car kit yet.

    • Written by from shepton mallet

Really really easy to set up and use. Crystal clear sound on music and phone through the car stereo and responds perfectly to satnav (Navigon). It just does it, without any fuss. Superb. The Jabra Halo 2 headphones are also well worth a look. Jabra seem to have it sussed with regard to bluetooth products.

Looks good...BUT does not understand commands!

    • Written by from Edmonton

When and IF you can make a voice call it works great on it's own speakers! FM does not work worth a hoot, no matter what frequency u use or at least in my area! Ipod works great on FM! It has a HUGE problem understanding commands and if you do get thru the 1st command the phone command lady can't understand simple sounding names most of the time! She majors in saying GOODBYE! I have 2 of these Freeways and both are the same and both are going back to where i got them from!

THIS IS A VERY IMPRESSIVE HANDS FREE DEVICE

    • Written by from Herston

I felt I needed to let others know that this speakerphone is the most impressive device I have ever used. It simply works without drama. I charged the Jabra, took it to the car, turned it on, authorized the pairing with my iPhone and it connected. It has clear audio, sensible usable menus and in very unobtrusive in the care. |I think this product is another rare one that "just works".

    Looks good, works poorly

    • Written by from West Vancouver

Lovely industrial design: too bad about the functional flaws.
Mute button has no effect whatsoever.
Mistakes my wife's name (Liz) for the "play music" command.
Or maybe for her parent's phone number, depending on the day.
Can't comprehend the command "stop" (required to stop your music) unless it is yelled at desperation volume from a distance of an inch or less.
May or may not understand other commands depending on . . .well, depending on no discernible variable, actually.
When paired with my iPhone 4S, it fights for control with SIRI - only solution is to disable SIRI while using the Freeway.
The motion detector feature to turn it on when you get in the car works well, and it cheerfully announces that it is connected.

The problem is this: the whole point of the thing is to allow you to make and take distraction free calls while driving. But its command and control system is so flawed that it becomes the very distraction it is supposed to prevent. Very odd that Apple would sell a product so inimical to their own corporate ethos.

In its present software configuration, this is an expensive, elegant visor decoration, and nothing more.

In the quiet of your house but not on the highway

    • Written by from SPRINGFIELD

This device works great right out of the box in the quiet of your home, but get it in a car on the highway......forget about it! It rarely was able to accept a command and when it finally did it usually got it wrong. I am driving a Mercury Sable which is a relatively quiet car, but the background noise caused many problems for this device. Instead of helping make my drive safer it made it more hazardous with the distraction of trying to coax this thing to work.

    One small issue!

    • Written by from Blairgowrie

I really like this device. I bought an older car with no fancy Bluetooth connections to the audio equipment so this works just fine but having a Scottish accent doesn't go too well with the device. I've found myself having to put on a fake American accent to get it to play music from my iPhone as any word starting with P seems to take it straight to Pair Device. Other than that very good!

    Horrible

Jabra gets confused when 2 devices are paired. Have to say phone commands then use call the person as if you are holding the home button. FM transmitter is week, device drops Bluetooth and is just lame, not dependable at all

    Pretty good

    • Written by from LONDON

Very good quality sound, bought this for my boyfriend and incoming calls sound amazing. He used to have a Blue Ant that died, the call quality was really bad and they could barely hear him on the other line. The whole free 1 yr free subscription is a waste. Everytime you use it you dial their phone number (long distance - they only have 3 numbers to call in Canada, none are toll free).. there's no app for it so you have to sync your contacts online to the website and it doesn't sync numbers labeled as "iPhone" only "Home" & "Work". As far as it reading texts to you.. voice assist will only read them if they come from a voice assist subscriber... so don't count on the free voice assist service! The manual is very brief but you can find the long version online. One thing I had problems with was setting up the FM transmitter.. it was set on 88.1 and didn't know how to change it .. but turns out you just do volume up and down (duh moment - but wasn't in the basic instructions).. Overall it's good great call quality which I'm happy with so I give it a 4/5 stars... Again.. The voice assist service is a JOKE!

    Jabra Freeway Works Great!

    • Written by from Richmond hill

I am not sure why so many people have provided negative reviews. I started using this product yesterday. It is the best bluetooth speaker I have ever used (and I have had many of them). I am using with both the Iphone 4S and 5. Great sound, clear reception, very intuitive, pairs nicely. Excellent product so far.

    Garbage

    • Written by from Ottawa

This product is garbage. I've paired this device with my iPhone 5, and have had nothing but frustration. The speaker is way too loud, can't be reduced to an acceptable volume. Voice dial launches music. Device buttons are not intuitive at all, voice control slow and unresponsive. FM transmitter noisy on every channel. Just a piece of junk that's going back.

    Jabra freeway lousy FM

    • Written by from Etobicoke

I bought this Jabra to replace a very cheap Fm transmitter that, every 20-30 seconds made a clicking noise, 4 o 5 clicks. I love the freeway Bluetooth portion, but the FM transmitter fails completely. Noise in every station. My cheap Fm is much much better.

    Great features, subpar FM

    • Written by from Weston

This is an overall good unit - all features work as advertised with the exception of the FM Transmitter. So first and foremost - if you're looking for a handsfree kit - this does the job well. Speaker system on it is best in its class for a device of this size.

    However, the downside:

In my experience the FM transmitter is only good after unscrewing my car's external antenna. Before removing it I am receiving terrible static and interference constantly - the audio is simply a torture to listen to. I also want to add that chargers and other electronic devices will cause distorted sound.

In short, the FM transmitter is extremely susceptible to static interference. Only after removing the car's antenna was this feature usable. Even so, it still get's fairly frequent sounds that are both distracting and annoying. That said, it is bearable now.

Overall a very good product, with fairly accurate voice recognition. If the FM transmitter was improved I'd give this five stars.
