Best iPhone Guitar Adapter on Market

    • Written by from Croydon

Lots of people say this is cheap and nasty and has noise issues/feedback etc etc. Don't believe the haters - this thing is awesome. If you get noise etc then it is your gear that needs fixing, not the iRig. Run it through my Ibanez Darkstone with semi-decent lead and the sound clarity is perfect. Works amazingly well and is far better than all the others on the market. Good upgrades available as well. Highly recommend.

    Very noisy

    • Written by from San Diego

I would not recommend this product. It is relatively cheap, but you get what you pay for. I get so much noise when I plug it into my new iPad (gen 3) its unusable. The recordings come out pretty bad. Forget about using it with Garageband. It's a little better with Amplitude. Overall, it's a very disappointing, low quality product, which I am stuck with unfortuanately.

    $40 for a cheap adapter doesn't wash

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I think the fact that it after paying $40 for the irig and not getting a app download is disappointing. The amplitude 'free' is lacking in anything if you want to use some different amps or pedals the $40 price tab increases dramatically. I am aware that we're not talking about a fortune but I can't help but feel like I'm being ripped off.
If the full version of amplitude was included in the price it wouldn't be going back to the apple store today.

    Does what it says!

    • Written by from Rosemead

The product itself works great, but the directions and what you actually get software wise are very poor. You don't get much included in the free download except tons of things you can buy. When you open the app it keeps trying to get you to buy more stuff with popups. I really expected more in the way of amps(2)stompboxes(3)and instructions(had to hunt down answers online). Oh well, I mainly got it to work with the Garageband app which has way more amps and effects, as well as an 8 track recorder and a boatload of other stuff for 5 bucks! I'm glad it works with Garageband because I'd hate to be stuck with having to spend a lot more money downloading Amplitubes stuff just to have a semi-comparable product. Thank you Apple, you really take care of your customers.

    Brilliant!

    • Written by from Forestville

Excellent product for quick practice sessions (both solo with headphones and through a mixer with the band), training against a recorded song/backing track, and general mucking around. Didn't take long before I purchased the full Amplitube application, the Fender '65 Twin Reverb amp, additional FX pedals, the 4-track recorder and the iKlip Mini.
Have played using headphones, mixer with 200W foldback speakers, and my home stereo system - no noise and no problems with quality. I have a Behringer VAMP-3 which I'm using less now due to the iRig.
Just wish it had a footswitch option for switching to a Lead channel for live play!

    Great Accessorie.

    • Written by from Nanaimo

I purchased my i connect about 3 months ago, and todate I cannot say enough about it. I found it very easy to set up and use.
The compact design makes it ideal for practicing in private while sitting at my lake side retreat, with out haveing the hasstle of draging along a practice amp.

When I first set it up I was amased at how great the sound was with minimal setup time and tinkering...

I would easily recommend this product to my friends or anyone who cares to listen.

    Good idea. Bad sound.

    • Written by from Laval

The idea is great. Can practice anywhere. Apps are great but the sound quality even after all settings are optimized is still really bad. Read the blogs before buying. Don't know if I got a defective unit but I'm not alone... Will try the apogee jam instead.

    AmpliTube iRig works great!

    • Written by from Connellsville

I bought this and am so happy that I decided to. It was well worth the $40. The part that I love the most: it works with GarageBand! I would recommend to anyone who plays guitar.

    Does what it says

I bought the iRig before it was available in the Apple Store and have been using it for some time now. I don't regret the purchase at all. It rewards patience and a bit of experimentation to get the sound right but you can eliminate all the hiss and buzz. Each amp has a bypass switch and often the 'problem' is associated with the multitude of settings in play as the eager user runs through the playground of amps and effects, wildly throwing switches as they go. I use a Griffin iMic to connect all external audio to my Mac. This includes speakers. ANY audio connected directly to the audio-in socket is more likely to generate hum or buzz. Its unfair to complain about the iRig when this issue can affect anything connected this way. Although a mono connection, I've tred iRig hooked up through my HiFi. The sound was impressive and completely devoid of unwanted noise which reinforces the point above. Recommended at the price and with the app which continues to refine and improve.

    Excellent investment for guitarists

    • Written by from Citrus Heights

I always have a practice amp and a guitar tuner on me everywhere I go thanks to iRig.
AmpliTube iRig allowed me to replace my dedicated hardware ampsim with my iPhone, and it sounds way better, too.

    Poor quality product

I am thoroughly discussed with this product. The noise from poor grounding is horrible. I have tried it with several guitars and several expensive cords as well as an iPad and iPhone and nothing cures the problem. A total waste of money.

    Trully a great tool

    • Written by from Miami

I bought it about 3 weeks from now and I even have increased my practice times per week. So confortable, and easy to use that any one profesional or amateur would love it.

the Ampli tube app for iPhone its a good deal being free or the LE for $2,99

Is there anything the iPhone can't do?

    Great Product

    • Written by from Allendale

Easy to use and a great sound! Perfect for the musician on the go or the one who wants to eliminate all the clutter with wires and chords. Say bye bye to all those annoying foot pedals. The Plug-in's (not included) are also great!

great product for the iphone and even better on the ipad

    • Written by from Fortuna

i had the little critter on my iphone and played around for awhile. the more i played around w/it the more i liked it. great when traveling. when i dash off for any length of time i take my lightest guitar (a sweet little tele thinline) and irig for my phone. i really can't even begin to to ya how nice that is to just kick back in a hotel room or whatever and crank any number of amps and pedals. picks up your ipod tunes on my phone so i have all my backing tracks. how cool is that? not cool enough -- i got an ipad and immediately downloaded amplitube for the ipad. yeah, bummer. you gave to pay for both if you want them and pedals are extra. but the ipad version is insanely sizzling. also can run the whole thing back through you own amp when you want some volume. i love it. can't praise it enough. keep on rocking! peace.

    excellent

    • Written by from Fochabers

wasn't sure if this would actually work well at first, my guitar lead wasn't at its best and had allot of hiss and static noise, so I tried a different lead and that cured it, once you have found the correct sound you were looking for (with additional add on fx pedals available) this app works amazingly well, considering it is a phone and not an amp. plugged into a good sound system it sounds perfect. and you can easily tweak the sound until its just right. well impressed and well worth a go if you like gadgets and guitars

    Good choice

    • Written by from Williamstown

I've had this for a month or so and find it much better than the PRS offering which I think had awful sound. I find the iRig and Amplitube app gives really useful clean sounds with low noise and no noticeable latency. Worth the money to be able to travel and have practice sessions using a number of other guitar apps available. I think its about the best I've seen our there right now.

    Does not work

    • Written by from toronto

Bought one today, installed the app, nothing but guitar silence. Tried everything, including switching all cables and gear. Going to store to return tomorrow, if I can't get it to work in store, I am getting a refund. I think the latest app update is buggy, at least that is what latest comments say. I hope they fix this, if they do and I can see one work, I will buy, otherwise forget it. I have been waiting since CES january 2010 to buy this. Dissapointing!

    Exactly what I wanted.

    • Written by from Pierrefonds

I like the amplitude apps (they are fantastic) but what I like most is that the iRig works with anything. I can now use my favorite tuner or my 4-tracks recorder with my 3rd gen ipod touch perfectly well. The only thing I regret is that I bought only one.
