Useless - not compatible with Griffin's own iPad cover

This is basic usability guys. If you're going to charge a premium for your products, make sure they work with each other. This extension cable is not compatible with Griffin's own iPad cover. Waste of £30.

    Shame on Griffin!

It is quite shameful of Griffin to make such a poorly designed product!

I loved the length of this cable but even if I did not touch it, it fell out of both, my iPad and my iPhone!
Both did not have any covers/cases on. Then I put on the Griffin Survivor case on iPad and could not even plug in the cord. Both made by the same company for the same product!

    Shame on Griffin!

    Not Quite There

I have used this cable with both an iPhone 4S and an iPad 3. I don't recommend it. Especially with the iPad 3 it does not stay reliably connected. (The cut away of the socket for the new iPad doesn't help this.) So while you think your iPad is charging, it is not because the connector has come loose -- again.

A much better option is the Incase 10 foot iPhone/iPad cable which is also available from Apple for the same price.

    Doesn't work

I wish Apple would come up with one that actually works. Or, just make the original one a foot longer. This plugs in but doesn't charge, doesn't stay connected, and just plain old doesn't work.

Falls out of iPad and iPhone

Love the length and gauge. Hate that it falls out because the male end is too small and doesn't stay in place. I would return it but forgot where I got it and guess I am stuck. What is another alternative?

    Not worth it

I purchased this for my iPad and it didn''t last longer than 6 months. I can't get it to charge without jiggling it to make a connection. If I move it by accident I have to try it all over again! I am very, very disappointed in this product.

Have now bought 2 of these cables. The first cable-the USB plug came loose and so did the other end that attaches to iPad. 2nd cable (after a week) stopped charging my iPad. Never kept box or receipt as I trusted this product! In total, $100. Visiting in SA, not prepared to fork out more money. What are alternatives? Love iPad but cables too short

    Con:
I bought two of these and both had issues with the cord coming loose from the connector to the device. I started to smell burning on the second purchase due to exposed wires, never buying this unless they changed the design, too risky! I liked the Monster data cable better due to the design.

    Pro:
    Charges quick, length of cable

Did the engineers even TEST this thing? It wont stay connected to either my iPhone, iPad or iPod. The length is great but the connector is REALLY bad!

Does not seat on my iPad 3

This does not seat into my iPad 3. And no, I do not have a case on my iPad so there is no impediment to proper seating. I have tried patiently to get this to work. I believe that the problem is the male end that is supposed to seat into the iPad is too short for the 3G iPad.

Don't waste your money!!! While the length is great, the functionality is poor due to the adapter NOT HOLDING INTO THE IPAD!!! Nothing worse than when you think you have been charging all night and the adapter has fallen on the floor!!! poor product : (

    Long, but lame.

The length is great, but the part that goes into your iProduct falls out quite easily. That part is also on the large side, so it won't work with certain iPhone and iPad cases because it's too big to fit through the case.

If anyone can find another long wire please let me know, because the only reason this is worth buying is because it's the only one you can find at this length.

I have had this item for about a year or less. Then all of a sudden it just stops working all together. Just didn't stop working on my phone but others and my MAC. For the price well is outrageous. I highly don't recommend this item.

    Bad Connection, May 2012

    • Written by from Iowa City

I had high hopes for the iPad 2 3-Meter USB to Dock Cable I purchased in April 2012, especially given its length and gauge. Unfortunately the docking end of the cable does not snap in place securely. As a result of the bad connection, a charge or sync often is aborted mid stream.

When I examine the dock end of the cable, I can see that the retractable securing pins do not spring back out after use, especially on the right side (when looking at the dock end icon up & readable). No wonder the cable pulls loose even from its own weight. I expect much better from Griffin Tech., a group that should have identified and fixed this problem early on.

I'm returning my cable since I can't afford to rely on such an unreliable connecter.

The phone end doesn't lock into the phone the way the apple connector does. If the phone is handled you have to hold the connector onto the phone with your hands. The phone switches from charging to not charging with a touch. The slightest touch.

Good buy if you have gift cards?

The length and strength of this cord is unbeatable by any other if only apple could figure that out about theirs being too shirt and weak after minimal use. Would I recommend this cord to any one who uses a case on their phone (which is pretty well everyone seeing how the iPhone is made of glass) no as you can't charge it with any case that I've found even the small iPhone bumper. For that reason I'm considering returning the $30 cord I can't use unless I remove the case every time I need to charge my iPhone which is daily.

I have a speck case on my iphone, which this cord will not work with. The connection with this cord is not good at all even when I take my iphone out of speck case. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone. I wish I would have read the reviews before I purchased. Such a hassle to take iphone out of case to charge phone!!!! I DO NOT LIKE THIS PRODUCT!

I have one of these that works perfectly to charge both my iPad2 and my iPhone 4s. No case on the iPhone, only the smart cover on the iPad. However, although the Apple connectors for my iPad2 and iPhone cables work on my iPad3, this cable won't. The connector won't go in, and I'm not about to try to force it. Looks like I'm giving up the extra length that I need to read in bed while charging.

The cable has had poor connectivity since day one. I should have returned it, but liked the length. It is finally to the point where it won't stay connected. Good thing is Griffin is standing by their warranty..
