Do I need an adaptor and converter to use ipad2 in Israel? And if I do need one can I use the general 1600w converter I use for hair dryer?

Best AnswerHi there,
The short answer is, which will save you a few dollars, is that you do NOT need a converter to use your IPAD. You do however, need an adaptor, which thankfully is much cheaper than a converter. Most laptops, cellphones, IPADs, etc, are already dual-voltage wit the converter already "built-in" to the devices. In fact, you can check this on your device but as far as I'm aware, all Apple devices are dual voltage (110 and 220V). I am working in Israel as we speak, and use my IPOD and IPhone 4 here with the simple use of an adapter for each one.

What is the wattage of the power supply provided with this kit? Is it the 10 watt one that comes with the iPad or the earlier 5 watt one?

Best AnswerI can now answer my own question, as I bought this adapter set at a local Apple store. YES, the adapter provided is the 10W one that also comes with the iPad. So for $10 more than the price of a spare iPad adapter alone, you can also get plugs for the various country electrical outlets. It would be great if you could just purchase the plug parts separately, but you can always find a use for a spare charger and cable.

Best AnswerNo. The plug is the standard plug featured on the power adapter for the macbooks, so you can't use it with non-apple pcs laptops.

Does this come with the adapter for use within aircrafts?
- Asked by Virginia C from Penrith
- Oct 26, 2009
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerThat would depend on the type of aircraft power outlet. Although some aircraft still have the regular aircraft socket, many now use AC power outlets. If the aircraft has AC outlets, then this kit should fit all outlets. If the craft uses the traditional DC outlets (power sockets), then no.

do i need a converter with the world travel adapter kit when/ the country has 220 power? Please keep answer simple w/o jargon like 'brick'.
World Travel Adapter Kit given to me as a gift. We travel widely throughout the world. Converters are heavy. Do I need to bring one along to use with the World Travel Adapter Kit? I am not an electrical engineer, and would appreciate a simple answer.

Best AnswerNo you don't. How to tell when you do and don't: read the label on your hardware (Mac, hair dryer, whatever). If it says "110-220v", then it will accept either voltage and only needs an adapter. If it ONLY says "110v", then you need a converter also (to "convert" the foreign 220v power to 110v).
