I have recently purchased the iPad 2 and I would like to know if I can use a magic mouse with it. The reason why I am asking this is because the wireless keyboard does work with the iPad 2.

Since the Magic Mouse knows when it is inactive and automatically reverts to a sort of "stand-by"mode , it conserves battery life and is, by Apple's standards, supposed to last 4 months like that. Your answer is no; although if your a paranoid-battery-life preserver like I am, I'd shut mine off every time:D

How do I copy and paste with the magic mouse?
- Asked by Darryl & Kimberly C
- Feb 27, 2010
- Flag as inappropriate
Best Answer
In the system preferences you can change the mouse settings so the mouse has a left and right click. Otherwise just select the thing you want to copy and press 'cmd C then cmd V' The mouse is very good at figuring out if you left or right clicked. Just experiment!

It works like a charm. Just finding it without the scrolling works and I then installed the first Magic Mouse driver for Windows 7 I could find ... works like a charm, well, at least left 'button', right button and the magic scrolling.

Is the magic mouse good for gaming?
- Asked by Imrana R from Ballwin
- Mar 6, 2010

Best Answer
No, I wouldn't recommend the magic mouse for gaming. I usually play FPS games, for now the magic mouse is the only mouse I have. I wish this mouse was better for gaming, but it is not. I play Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 a lot and the magic mouse often confuses a Left Click for a right click and I end up melee'ing instead of shooting at my target. the scroll is also very horrible. The mouse cannot tell whether you want to scroll one notch or two. This usually causes a problem when you want to use the wheel to quickly switch between your toggled items.
There were many times when I intended to shoot or right click and instead ended up healing myself or taking pills when I meant to give them to a teammate. So I guess for intensive FPS games, I really wouldn't recommend this mouse. For simple web browsing and other simple tasks, this mouse does the trick. It's really a bummer that it cannot move across a glass surface.- Answered by Jaime N from Daly City

Best Answer
Laser tracking engine.
Magic Mouse features a laser tracking engine that’s far more sensitive and responsive on more surfaces than traditional optical technology. That means it can track with precision on nearly every surface with no mousepad required.- Answered by Mikol F from Ontario

As long as your Macbook Air is up to date (minimum OS 10.5.8), the Magic Mouse will work.
To check your OS version, click the Apple logo on the upper left part of your screen and choose "About This Mac." Your version will be under the Mac OS X text.- Answered by Edgar I from San Diego

Best Answer
The January 2006 Tech Spec for the MacBook Pro lists built in bluetooth under wireless information. To be sure you have bluetooth, though, Go to 'About This Mac' by clicking on the Apple in the upper left corner of the menu bar. Select the 'About This Mac' submenu option and a window named 'About This Mac' will appear with OS, Processor, and Memory info. Press the More Info... button.
Expand the Hardware information by pressing the triangle next to Hardware. Bluetooth should be the third entry in the list. Select the Bluetooth entry and a whole bunch of information will appear in the larger window to the right of the hardware listing. You have a bluetooth enabled mac book pro if you see Hardware Settings (address in particular) listed under the bluetooth software version.- Answered by Jim G from Jersey City

Did anyone use the new Magic Mouse with a CAD application like AutoCAD?
I would lke to know if it is possible to zoom with that mouse... which is essential in Autocad.
- Asked by Gregor B

Best Answer
Magic Mouse perfect for everything EXCEPT cad! You will be constantly zooming in AutoCad by accident! Within Autocad, type "zoomfactor" -enter- then "3" -enter- (this is the lowest setting). This will slow down the zoom rate and may help a little.

Can I use my magic mouse for gestures in Lion instead of having to go buy a magic trackpad?
OS X Lion question having to do with gestures and magic mouse.
- Asked by Adam W from Decatur
- Jun 11, 2011
- Flag as inappropriate
Best Answer
Not really.
Differences:
+ Mission Control
- Launch with three finger swipe up on trackpad, two finger tap (or maybe double tap) on Magic Mouse
- Change spaces with three finger swipe left or right on trackpad, two finger swipe on Magic Mouse
+ Launchpad
- Launch with pinch on trackpad, cannot launch from Magic Mouse gesture (I think, don't anticipate using launchpad much)
- Really irritating: change page of apps with two finger swipe on trackpad, one finger on Magic Mouse (took forever to figure that one out).
Similarity:
+ Two finger scrolling works the same way on both.
Hope for the future?
You can't configure gestures in system prefs, just turn them on or off. Hoping MagicPrefs is updated to allow configuration!- Answered by Matthew C from Moorhead
