You will be able to connect this to a Scart Tv, but you'll need a couple of other things. First use the Apple composite Av cable then use a scart adapter which has composite video and audio connections (yellow phono plug for video, red and White ones for audio). Should be good to go after that.

If you can plug it into the tv to show pictures and videos, is it the same thing as the AV cables by Apple or which one is more worth it.

The dock has a 1/8" port for connecting a 3.5mm male plug to RCA cable.
The dock is powered by your USB to Apple Dock Connector cable. You
will need to connect the USB to your computer, or purchase a USB to AC power adapter
separately.- Answered by MD

I asked Bose if I could connect my iPod to the bose wave, they said I could buy an iPod dock for $100 & a $30 cable & I could play my iPod through the Bose wave.
I think Apple is saying buy the docking piece and get the cable from Bose.
Hope this helps.
I haven't decided yet.- Answered by RS from Succasunna

I have an iphone 3gs and this Universal dock purchased at the same time.
Today I visited the Apple Store because the Dock DOES NOT WORK 100% the same with the iphone 3Gs as it does with the ipods. It differs in that the line out signal is much weaker from the iphone than from an ipod. Consequently you must ramp up the volume ON THE IPHONE to almost maximum to get get a decent signal to any connected amplifier.
The above was proven to be correct on visit to the Apple Store in Doncaster, Victoria, Australia. The store rep tried his iphone and the results were the same. But when a current ipod 160Gbmodel was docked, the volume from the amp speakers was much louder than the equivalent volume setting on the iphone. The same found when connecting the line cable to the headphone jack too.
On previous generations of ipod, on screen volume control did not adjust the volume when connecte via dock to an amp - it seems that they now do....backward step IMHO.- Answered by PD from Surrey Hills

If you want to connect it to the audio inputs of an amp/receiver, you'll need a cable that has a 1/8" stereo plug at one end and a pair of RCA or phone plugs at the other.
The Dock has a 1/8" Line Out jack. The cable will connect it to your audio Line In jacks on the amplifier.- Answered by RM from HAYWARD

No. You will need to plug in your own external speakers through the provided 3.5mm headphone jack found within the Universal Dock.

What exactly does this do? As far as I can tell, judging from the description, you can't do anything unless you buy cables for it.

On its own, it is just a stand with a remote, basically. You don't need to buy cables if you want to hook it up to the computer, since the device you bought came with a cable which will plug into the back of this. Any other connections will require an additional cable of some sort.

Can this remote control iphone video files?
Does anyone know if this dock and remote can control (Fast foward/Rewind) video files via iphone while it's connected to TV?

Yes, the remote controls FF and FR. It also controls the Volume + and -; while it's connected to TV.
Sadly, it doesn't allow you to "move between clips"; like if you have multiple video files, it doesn't let you switch between the files.
You may PLAY or PAUSE the clip though.
I've also noticed that the "MENU" found on the remote control seems to be useless.
You might also wanna know that this dock would NOT work with JUST audio alone; like if you wanna listen to your fav MP3 files from your AV Connection (TV).
It plays Video (with Audio, of course).
It plays Photos, Slideshows.
BUT It don't play Audio alone.
Please note that Composite or Component Cables are not included in the package.- Answered by JJ from SINGAPORE
