Will you here the phone ring or a sound for text message while it is in the dock charging?

I've heard that it wont work unless speakers are assigned.

    Yes it will ring and sound in the dock. I have it set up on my bed-stand with no external speakers and the alarm and all other sounds work. :)

  • Also, If the phone is in silent mode (ringer switch is flipped to orange color), and the phone is docked, and the 3.5mm jack is connected to externally powered speakers, will it ring on external speakers when a phone/message comes through? Note, the phone is kept on silent mode.
