MacBook Air or MacBook Pro?

I am a sophomore in High School but take medical courses over the weekends and during the summer at Columbia University. I have dealt with a desktop for a few years but I need a laptop to take with me to my classes. I commute every day and want something that I won't notice I'm carrying around. I have a very heavy work schedule and need a laptop that is thin and light but that is powerful enough to run programs like Adobe Photoshop quickly. I don't mind spending more to get a heavily configured computer as long as it meets my needs. I'm torn between these two because I prefer the MacBook Air 13" but I'm worried that it won't be able to deal with Photoshop. I spend a lot of my time typing reports, creating powerpoints, and editing photos in photoshop.

The Macbook Air runs Photoshop surprisingly smoothly. I don't think you'd have any trouble :) It's a powerful little machine!

  • I'm an ex-video production teacher which worked with a MacBook Pro at school. I just retired last year and decided to invest in a MacBook Air. I wanted a lighter and easier to handle computer. I love my Air because I still use Final Cut Pro X and Photoshop 5 without any problem. My projects are family oriented and are simple editing projects but to my surprise the Air does a great job. The only big difference is that after each project, I immediately archive it and erase it from the computer.

  • If you want an easy-to-carry-around notebook, I would suggest the MacBook Air. If you tend to sit and work for a Long time with a computer I suggest the MacBook Pro.
