Can I boot windows 7 from this disk using bootcamp?
I need windows 7 for school but I'd prefer if the internal harddrive of my macbook pro remains mac-only. can I partition this disk using bootcamp and then install windows 7 on it? also I will want to play games in windows will that be a problem if installed on this disk?

According to Apple Support:
" If I have more than one hard drive, can I install Microsoft Windows on any drive?
You can use Boot Camp to install Windows on any internal hard drive, but not on an external hard drive."
If you are short on disc space, you might want to consider Parallels. You must install Parallels on the internal drive, but you can put the virtual machine on an external drive. I am not sure about Fusion.
Here is what Parallels says about this:
"Unfortunately you can't install the Parallels software on the secondary drive instead of the Mac hard drive. But you can store your Virtual Machines' files (for instance, the virtual hard disk image file) on your external drive if you wish."- Answered by Byron C from Washington
