Can the firewire 400 and 800 ports be used to daisy chain other 400 or 800 devices?

As an editor with many hardrives often open at once I would suggest NOT to daisy chain between 400 and 800 as this has caused me many issues in the past with final cut. Daisy chaining between 400 iis fine or daisy chaining between 800 is fine but you should never mix the 400 and 800 together. …More

My recommendation is that you leave the iPhoto library on your internal disk (laptop or desktop) and then use Intego Backup Manager (which comes with the drive) to synchronise your iPhoto library to the LaCie disk. You can run the synchronisation manually or set it to run, say, once a day. That way if you delete a photograph or make a mess of editing it you can get it from the copy on the LaCie disk. …More
