    I have unfortunately owned too many external drives, both because I'm clumsy and perhaps a bit unlucky. So, after a friend dropped my last LaCie drive and I lost 32 gigs of music, I decided to get smart and find a drive that would handle some abuse. I'm no expert and can't attest to how much this drive can take, but I've taken it on the road a lot with no problems.

    The only negative is the absence of any sort of light to let you know it's operating, but even a slow-witted guy like me can tell by touch.

    My Macbook had a knock and sent my internal hard drive into history, however I wanted to get a drive to get a back up of the my photo's I had sent to friends, 8000 of them of my world travels (Damn). Wow is it fast. It takes minutes to back up GB of data. I replaced my hard drive with a Sata 250 GB in my Mac got it up and working and started to reload. Wow. The drive is fast, both for back up and downloading. good looking. The down side are small 800 FW cable and it runs hot, is that a problem? As someone who travels a lot I would definitely recommend this. Just connect and you are up and running in minutes, it even configures a space for Windows (why would you need this?). I like the Time capsule but as I am on the road so often this is a great product if you want to be able to travel and forget it. I dropped it 3 feet and it still continued backing up.     I have had this HD for 6 months and have only moved it from home to work 8-9 times to do regular backup for critical data. It has been placed safely in my bag together with another larger backup hard disk (for bulk back up). And now it doesn't work anymore (the other drive work perfect, as do other drives I have used for similar purposes). The connector in the back of the drive is also very unstable and bends easily inward. The worst hard disk I have ever had! …More
