Overview
Altec Lansing's T612 digital speaker system is the perfect complement for your iPhone. In addition to its striking good looks, the T612 delivers delightfully clear sound with satisfyingly deep bass. And if you get a call while listening, the music pauses automatically. Then once you've completed your conversation and re-docked the iPhone, the music resumes playing exactly where it left off.
To ensure superior sound quality, the T612 includes internal GSM shielding to keep its speakers from picking up potential intermittent noises emitted by iPhone or other mobile devices. It also provides powerful neodymium speakers and XdB bass-enhancement technology.
The T612 comes equipped with a wireless remote for maximum convenience and control. It offers power on/off, volume up/down, track back/forward, play/pause, and separate bass and treble controls.

This thing is simply amazing. I must say it's the best speaker system yet that Apple has sold. Not only does it have perfect sound but it has something to not detect frequencies from the iPhone while listening. I have had an iPhone since November and I've wanted a better speaker system than the iHome clock radio. Even if you aren't receiving a call or text you hear those terrible loud noises while listening. I hated having to put it in airplane mode in order to listen.
But now Apple has just released the Altec Lansing speaker system. I bought it before they even had it on the floor at a local Apple store. I was extremely impressed by the ability to fade out of music and receive texts and calls. I also was impressed by the beautiful sound and loud bass (as I'm obsessed with having my bass high)

This is perfect, plays beautifully, allows you to hear your phone ring through the speakers. It's perfect except...
The power pin plug in the back does not always connect properly. It's difficult to make sure it is plugged in right which frequently causes the power to go off when you move the unit. It's pretty annoying.

Used this yesterday at the Apple store, and I was very impressed with the sound, loud, but yet still clear, gets distorted at the highest volume, but by then it is too loud anyways. Would like to have seen an included radio. …More

I guess I should not have expected quality sound at that price... The one positive feature of these speakers - it sure can play very loud for its size; but the sound of it makes me think of my "boum box" when I was a teenager... There is no finesse, no spatial separation and little tonal definition.
Now I may not be very fair as I'm used to FOCAL.JM Labs and B&W speakers, but still, I want more... So I'm returning this and ordering something higher end... …More17 of 30 people found this useful

It took me 2 weeks to find a unit for my iTouch 2nd Generation...I was originally going to get the Bose Series II but found out that it will play the iTouch 2nd Gen but it will not charge it. Most of the best rated sound docks on apple.com are not compatible with the iTouch 2nd Gen or they will play but not charge. I couldn't see spending 299.99 on the series II or 399.99 on the series II portable. I listened to the Bose systems at the Bose outlet near my home and then compared to the T612 when it arrived at my house today and I am very pleased...this little unit is AMAZING! Sound clarity is great and it charges my 2nd Gen and even the price is half of the Bose at 149.99. …More

Great except for remote functions!

I know it says it was built for the iPhone but it also says it works with all iPods...i have the iPod Touch and the remote only works for the volume and treble/bass and power...why doesnt it work with playback!?!? Its sooo annoying! And i really like this system too but unless you dont care what songs play next the remote functions are completely wasted! I am thinkin about returning but i like it so much!
