  • Useful and easy to use; watch out for ipad2 breakage

    3.0 out of 5 stars

Bought the ipad2 a week ago and today as I was getting out of the car, the side of the ipad tapped against the metal door. Didn' t hit the door hard, I barely noticed the tap, that is until I opened the ipad to use it in our hotel room. Huge cracks in the ipad glass (although the screen still works).

The ipad2 needs a full protective case like the Kindle has or one risks breakage like I had today when transporting the ipad2.

I called the Apple 800 number and was informed glass breakage will cost $299 to switch out another ipad2 for mine. Not on warranty either as it was an accidental breakage.

Even before I switch out I'm getting a protective case of some sort. Hard lesson learned.

Like another customer here, this cover works perfectly! I have used the pink one for a year when I bought my iPad 2. My husband just upgraded his iPad to the 2 and bought this grey one and again it works perfectly. Those who say it collapses under the weight of the iPad simply do not know how to fold it properly as a stand. I also love the on/off feature of the iPad the cover provides. Definitely NOT disappointed!

It is super simple to attach, it holds fine, flat or upright, no issues. I like it a lot. A little pricey but hey that is Apple, l oool. I honestly do not understand why people complain. It works as shown in the videos.

  • It gets beat up after a while

Here are my observations of having the Smart Cover after a few months.

The edging (the minted plastic or whatever on the entir e outer edge of the product, to keep everything together) started peeling off. After a while pieces of the edging would peel off altogether, causing the problem that my Smart Cover is literally falling apart. On the screen cover, the entire outer edging has peeled off, and now the inside lining is fraying and coming off as well, meaning so are the magnets. When it got to the point of one of the magnets actually came off, we tried to superglue it back on. HEEYY guess what? Now it doesn't work.

Along with that, the flap that keeps your iPad in the case is tearing off from the rest of the case, so now my iPad is insecure in the case.

When I first got my red Smart Cover it was great with the magnetic connection to my iPad 3rd gen. It even cut off the screen for m e once I put the cover on so it was great. Hadn't had any problems for a long time. After about 10 months of having my iPad and Smart Cover it started to mess up my iPad screen. When I would put the Smart Cover on and take it off sometimes the screen went blank and sometimes it would work fine. So I decided to not use the Smart Cover for a few days and my iPad was fine but as soon as I put it back on my screen went completely white and my iPad was officially considered broke. I loved the cover until this happened. Due to my warranty I received a new iPad in 3 days but I will be getting a case that is non magnetic this time.

Magnetic bar doesn't hold the cover on very well. It's always coming off. Difficult to fold the cover for a stand, even after a month of use. Back and sides are unprotected. Piece of junk.
