Product Information

  • The magic is in the Multi-Touch.

The new Magic Mouse redefines what a mouse should do. In addition to its smooth, seamless top-shell design that acts as one button or two, Magic Mouse features a Multi-Touch surface with gesture support. Scroll vertically, horizontally, and diagonally — a full 360 degrees — simply by touching anywhere on the top surface. With a greater surface area for scrolling, you can get around a long timeline in iMovie, through a lengthy web page in Safari, or around a set of images in iPhoto more efficiently. You can also swipe through pages in Safari or photos in iPhoto with two fingers. It’s the most advanced Apple mouse ever made.

One or two. Left or right.

The seamless, one-button design of Magic Mouse makes it simple to use right out of the box. But if you want the functionality of a two-button mouse, that’s easy, too. Just change the configuration in System Preferences. And the ambidextrous construction means Magic Mouse is great for lefties or righties.

    Laser tracking engine.

Magic Mouse features a laser tracking engine that’s far more sensitive and responsive on more surfaces than traditional optical technology. That means it can track with precision on nearly every surface with no mousepad required.

    Bluetooth technology.

Magic Mouse works wirelessly with your Bluetooth-enabled Mac. When you combine it with the Apple Wireless Keyboard, the result is an untethered and uncluttered workspace. Once you pair Magic Mouse with your Mac, you can enjoy a secure and reliable connection from up to 33 feet away.

Its unreal how elegant it looks on my desk, but what is trully remarkable, is just how intuitive it really is. The MT serface is so sensitive, it reacts so fluidly, you would almost think it is a true extension of you.

For me, there is NO comfortable way to hold this mouse and I have tried many different ways. It is not ergonomic in the slightest. The movement of the pointer on the screen is far from acceptable when using it.

The one thing I do like about it is the gesture support; very intuitive and useful, but you might as well get the trackpad which is more accurate, comfortable and (at the moment) features more gestures.

If you don't like the trackpad then I would suggest any other standard mouse. If you buy this there's a fair chance your fingers will be aching from the constant attempts to hold this mouse comfortably.

Steer clear and get the magic trackpad instead!

    1) The extremely thin form of the mouse means that my right wrist starts to hurt after prolonged use. After having for 3 months I try to touch it as little as possible. Good news though is my Vim-fu has increased considerably!

    2) The click is very stiff. Im sure this is contributing to my wrist pain, as you have to put some finger oomph into the thing to make it click. Not just a little tap of the finger, your whole wrist has to contract, which if you have to do 500x a day can become very wearing. The tap to click is extremely sensitive, there is no middle ground. Simply resting your finger on the top of the mouse causes it to click on anything and everything.

    3) The scroll is extremely sensitive. Since there is no scroll wheel, and instead uses the neutered built in track-pad, fine scroll control is nearly impossible, as it registers scroll events constantly when I move my finger the tiniest bit. This 'feature' cannot be changed in settings. Besides the physical pain using this mouse causes me, this is the most annoying 'feature,' as scroll control is nearly impossible.

    4) In order to actually customize the functionality of the mouse, you must download a 3rd party controller called MagicPrefs. Without it the mouse is unusable.

If you're considering using this in a work environment, where you're going to be using the mouse all day every day for long periods, run, dont walk, away. Ive had to steal the $5 dell mouse from the unoccupied cube next to me so my hand doesnt cramp up every day.

100% love with Apple touch pad on Macbook Air. I didn't have silk soft feeling from any other product then apple.
Now i have iPhone, iPad, iPod, MacBook Air, Mac Mini therefore i have 5 apple tree, my dream is having iMac for finalize my Apple farming.

However sorry about the long story.

This mouse has pro and con, also this is very focus on my personally experience.

    Pro

    1. Multi touch
    2. Touch respond
    3. Size
    4. Quality of hardware
    5. Bluetooth
    6. no no no driver and crazy setting
    7. no ad's from driver or manufacture.

    Con
    1. Size - too thin for me. (I am very use to with Razer Naga, it's very big and thick mouse)
    2. Touch respond is ok but DPI is very low. (personally set Naga at 8000 DPI, my friend and family member having a hard time when they using my mouse, However use mouse at this rate for very long time i am so use to with this) - this will not cut down the star, because it's only personal reference.
    3. Battery - Mouse drain battery power fast. When i use normal battery type it's nightmare. But it stay very long when i use high density cap battery. So expensive mouse must have expensive battery if you don't like replace them every 2 week. Normal battery personally i replace them every 2weeks but after having high density battery i replace them every 7weeks.
    4. My friend was right. If i give them a choice of between Magic mouse and Magic touchpad which one you prefer more? 100 / 100 friend said "Magic Touchpad" why? because it's just better then Magic mouse. After having and using both mouse and touchpad, hmm i know why people willing to have extra Magic Touchpad.

    not pro not con

    1. Default Magic Mouse or Magic Touchpad apple control panel setting is great but if you have "JiTouch" app it will help you and give you more option with touch mouse and pad. I am using it about 6 month, it's very useful.
    2. This is review is very focus on my personal experience.

Thank you so much reading long story. And sorry about the spell and sentence error.

There's no doubt this mouse is cool. The bigger issue is getting through the day without feeling like I put my hand into a blender. A nearby Logitech m705 is my "gotta get stuff done" mouse.
