Logic Studio
A night at the opra!

Where do I start, Logic is pure logic. What I mean is that the new new logic studio was incredibly well engineered, much less bugy than the previous version. Compatibility has been greatly increased and again, this new version manages better the resources of my system, meaning that it runs much faster. I really like the new features added in main stage, especially the multimapping of controls. What is most impressive is the price for which apple sells the product. Compared to other audio editing software, this one dominates the competition. Thanks apple. …More

Logic Studio
Oh Yeah!!!!!!!
Written by WG from Clearwater

I have been recording for about 15+ years and was patiently awaiting for this version of Logic to arrive. I know apple has been scrambling to get closer to what digidesign's Pro-Tools can do and all I have to say is WOW!!! The upgrade install time was way fast; unlike waiting 4 hours for Logic Studio 8 to install. They've included everything you need to get a professional sounding song right out of the box and killed a lot of plug-in competitors along the way. The amp designer rivals that of Ik Multimedia's Amplitube series. The flex tool....WOW!!! No more scissor tool for this guy. Drum replacer....SICK!!! You don't even need third party plug-ins i.e. Drumtracker from Toontrack to get midi conversion of audio files. This is by far a warm welcome for me and did I mention you can easily... and I do mean easily import your channel strip settings from other projects? Don't hesitate and wait to get this if you are serious about recording. This is the hottest thing out right now and I can't imagine anything being better than this with out waiting another year or two. Pro-Tools 8 just plain stinks against Logic 9. Midi recording is superior in Logic and the sound libraries are HUGE!!! I will never step back to the dark side of Pro-Tools again. Way to go LOGIC 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! …More

Pro tools R I P
Written by RL from london

This is a massive leap forward for Logic. Yes the amp modelling is spectacular, yes the new editing facilities are great but what really makes the difference for me is the soundstage and stereo representation. The reverbs now really do their job, in fact all of the logic plug ins sound great on my rig and the potential of Logic 9 is scary once the full 64 bit OS comes into play.
I stood by Logic when everyone else was buying into Pro tools.
I feel like i just won the lottery.

i dunno about that

pro tools is simply a daw. is pro tools better, yes id say so, but hey don't look at me all weird! most people only use logic for the instrument plug in's and thats it. nobody mixes or does editing on logic because it's limited in feature that only pro tools offers!.from what i know the protocol is to always dump all your recorded virtual instruments into pro tools fro mixing. so which is better? I'd say pro tools for mixing and editing but besides that it's just a glorified garage band.
p.s i do own logic but in 2 years of having it i cant count how many times ive used it (4 times) …More3 of 14 people found this useful

I have a Mac desktop and laptop, can I use Logic on both or do I have to buy an additional licence? If so, what is the cost of an extra licence?

It should be the same as Logic 8. I have Logic Studio on my Mac Pro and Macbook Pro and have run Logic on both at the same time with no problem. The license does state that you are allowed to install it on two machines (a desktop and laptop, both of which you own) but are to run it only on one machine at a time. …More

The most reasonable and civilized method I know of. You enter your serial number. Same as on Digital Performer, bless 'em all. Apple is to be commended on its rare stance in the music industry of not penalizing its legal purchasers with onerous, often iffy schemes. One more reason to consider Logic as a primary DAW. …More
