- (1) The AirPort Express Base Station is based on an IEEE 802.11n draft specification and is compatible with IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, and IEEE 802.11g.
- (2) Based on a comparison with Apple's 802.11g products. Comparison assumes AirPort Express network with 802.11n-enabled computer. Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network. Accessing the wireless network requires an AirPort- or AirPort Extreme-enabled computer or other Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a/b/g-enabled computer. Actual performance will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network, and other factors. Range will vary with site conditions.
- (3) Wireless Internet access requires a wireless-enabled computer, a base station or other access point, and Internet access (fees may apply). Some ISPs are not currently compatible with AirPort Express.

WOW! i just bought my airport express hotness at the apple store in cincinnati (best apple store in the world! - JD in the back is the MAN!). i hooked it up to my existing airport extreme network, and it was set up and connected in about 37 seconds. this thing rocks! i have my samsung laser printer hooked up to and my bose computer speakers connected in my room, and this thing works like a charm! go get one - you can use it as a charger for your iPod or iPhone too! the fact that they didn't raise the price makes it an even better deal. this thing is genius... …More

Nightmare
Written by SR from BAKERSFIELD

The concept of airport express is a good idea you can listen to your music wirelessly from any room, print documents, or surf the web. But the reality of this device is far from its advertised benefits. Every device in my house is an Apple. I love this company, and the only devices I buy for my home are from apple, but this airport express is an exception to my house rule. Since I've bought airport express, it's been a nightmare to use it for web browsing, music, and printing documents. Every 5 to 10 minutes connection is lost and I have to wait that long for the device to reconnect. There no alternative for this device, it does all or nothing. I have tried to use airport express for music only, but you can't do that; airport express must serve as a port for all it's so called capabilities, so there is no choice; it's either all or nothing. I chose nothing! …More

AirPort Express Base Station with 802.11n and AirTunes
very useful, easy setup, just works

install airport software, connect stereo cable, plug it in, configure and it works like a charm. all four of my home computers (2 laptops, 2 PC, not apple btw.) connect without a hitch via itunes. replay is great. people that are having "software conflicts" with this most likely have a messed up machine to begin with (as is so common in the windows world).
what I would like to get with this is USB connectivity for music streaming and harddrive connection.
If you can run a printer through this it shouldn't be too hard to run a harddrive either.
Anyway, good product for a descent price. …More13 of 13 people found this useful

Yes...you can go into the settings for the AirPort Express and tell it how you want it to be used. You select 'Extend' and it's all setup. I just did it this weekend and it took all of 5 minutes from the time I opened the box. …More

Best Answer
Yes, but only if the airport express is extending an existing airport network. In other words, if you already have an airport extreme, time capsule, or another airport express it is possible to do this. It's just, however, not the easiest or most reliable option in my opinion. …More

Can I use AirPort Express Base Station to connect to my existing home wi-fi network (USR Wireless Router) and share my HP LaserJet P1005 printer?
- Asked by CR from Kandana

Yes, as long as you know the credentials for joining a device to your current wireless network. You would setup the Airport Express to "Join Your Wireless Network" like a computer or laptop. You can then connect your printer to the USB port on the Airport Express making it available to any computers on the same network. (NOTE: the USB port on the Airport Express is not "hot-swappable" which means you should connect the printer first and then power on the Airport Express)
The only issues that can occur include the security on your current wireless network not allowing the Airport Express to join it correctly if at all. I recommend using WPA-PSK security with a password of 8 or more characters (required). Wireless networks that are set to use a 10-character or 5 character passwords are most-likely using the older WEP security which doesn't always work well with the newer hardware in the Airport products.
Hope this helps. …More- Answered by KR from Folsom
