Ratings & Reviews

  • Great Headset

    5.0 out of 5 stars

I purchased this unit over a week ago to use with my new iPhone 4S.

After researching reviews by other users, I found that the Bose 2 fits many of my requirements which are geared towards business users such as superior sound quality, ease of use, good battery life and ability to function well with features of my phone (Siri).

The unit has provided great sound quality for both myself and other parties that I am talking with even in mildly windy conditions that caused noise problems with other headsets (Moto, Plantronic etc.).

Bose has done an excellent job of designing the controls which as simple a power switch, volume control and answer button. There is no need to press and hold a button for several seconds to initiate various controls which makes other units overly difficult to use without keeping a manual handy.

Battery life so far has been excellent, I am able to use the headset for most of the business day without the need to recharge. But I am sure like most other units, as it ages the battery will gradually weaken and from my experience small headsets such as this are good for about 9 months to a year of constant use.

The headset works flawlessly with Siri, just press the answer button and then speak when you hear the beep .... Siri responds and recognizes my requests allowing me to make virtually hands free calls while driving.

Ah and before I forget, the silicon earpieces fit nicely and do not require that you jam the unit into your ear. Simple choose the cover that fits you well then align it so that when placed into your outer ear that it will stay in place.

The unit is light and comfortable and I have found that I have do not notice it after wearing it for awhile.

The unit appears to be able to stay in place well, but I wouldn't try running while wearing it.

    Any downsides?

Well the only gripes I could have would be the short USB charging cable and the small travel case which the wall charger does not fit into (if you try to zip it shut)..

Beyond that I have found that this headset is well worth the $150 I paid for it and will certainly make Bose my first consideration when I have to replace this unit in a year.

  • Siri

    4.0 out of 5 stars

This is what I wanted out of a Bluetooth headset. The button acts exactly like the mic button for Siri, so you can carry a Siri co nversation without touching your phone.

Very comfortable. I leave it in my ear for hours. It does not fall out when you're chewing (like Jawbone).

Battery life is acceptable; lasts a day.

I love the physical on switch that turns it on and off easily. However, it can turn on easily in your pocket. A trade off. I will also be curious to see if it retains its firmness (build quality issue) over the years or if the switch will get all loosey goosey.

Sound quality incoming is better than all the ones I tried. My friend reported a marginal difference outgoing between this and the Plantronics.

Others tried: Old Jawbone Prime, Plantronics Voyager Pro HD, SoundId Six

This is the easiest piece of equipment to use. Once you have paired it with your phone - it takes seconds - its ready to go. Sim ply press once to dial and once to switch off. It never fails. Sound quality excellent from both ends. Worth every penny.

  • Problems with Pairing to My iPhone 4

    2.0 out of 5 stars

Big fan of iPhones (have a 5 for personal use and a 4 for work) and a huge Bose fan with multiple products. Currently have the Bo se Gen 2 and it worked fine on my iPhone 5 and worked great on my previous BlackBerry. When my BlackBerry failed my company replaced it with the iPhone 4. The Bose headset does not work properly with the 4 for some odd reason. The complaint from others is that I "cut in and out" and they cannot hear me. The exact same thing happened to another person I work with when he transitioned from a BB to the iPhone 4. Contacted Bose support who suggested I update the Firmware but as it turns out I already have the latest version. They also suggested removing the BlueTooth from the iPhone and pairing it again. Tried that as well but the problem still exists. They also suggested powering off the phone which in this case doesn't apply as I fly almost every week and the phone is off a lot. After all this and discussions with two support techs I was told they have no other suggestions. Obviously not the answer I was looking for. Looks like I will be forced to go with a different BlueTooth.

  • Head & shoulders above all others!!!!

    5.0 out of 5 stars

Quite simply the best out there, tried many others but never happy, only downfall is the relatively short battery life, but more t han makes up for it with excellent sound quality! Very comfortable to use, hardly notice it is there, even hours later! Makes using a headset a pleasure!

Yes. The Bose Bluetooth ear piece Series 2 will work with all features of iPhone 4S and it does soun d great. I've had mine now for 2 years. HOWEVER I've had consistent connection problems: the Bose will drop the connection to my iPhone 4S many times throughout any given day. It almost always takes several tries to get the Bose to be recognized by iPhone and even after it says it's connected the A2DP will not always work — I then have turn it off and try again or restart iPhone to get A2DP audio. Lastly the connection to iPhone is frequently knocked out by my airport extreme network as well as my MacPro 8-Core  built-in bluetooth (I use bluetooth mouse & keyboard) or even an outside source (like a passing taxi sending a dispatch signal). If I turn wi-fi off on iPhone, using only cellular then the problem is lessoned. This is all extremely frustrating, time consuming and continues to get worse. This is only offset by the fact that when it does work — it sounds great, really great plus the convenience & freedom from earphones with cords is priceless - you'll never want to use regular earphones again.

    P. S. these same problems are NOT experienced when using the Bose with iPad — the Bose performs flawlessly including A2DP audio with no trouble connecting to iPad and no spontaneous disconnects — which makes me think it's the iPhone 4S and not the Bose.

My recommendation: make sure you can return if not satisfied. Or, also take a look at the BlueAnt Q2, an excellent product also with A2DP. I owned an earlier model BlueAnt without A2DP…the only feature it was missing - its still performing perfectly and even the older BlueAnt has features the Bose Series 2 is still missing.

Works great when you talk on the phone, but I have found that it does not play well with Siri.

W hen I ask Siri to call someone while i am on the headset, she NEVER gets the name right. When I turn off the headset and make the same request via the phone mic, Siri is 99% accurate.

I am assuming that's because the headset is not accurately rendering what I am asking.

It really is too bad because I find myself turning off the headset, asking Siri to place a call and once she is placing the call, I turn the headset back on.

The Bose Bluetooth isolates all sound to your earpiece. If I want to also "hear" an alert from my iP hone device, I set it to Vibrate. With Vibrate On I can hear and/or feel the soft vibration alert if I'm not wearing my earpiece. The Bose tech is wrong, as far as I know, there is no other Apple iOS specific setting to by-pass the earpiece when Bluetooth is On and the Bose headset is selected. Bose does not supply any software or App for the earpiece.

If someone knows differently I'd like to know too.
