Product worked write out of the gate. You just need to know how to use it. You can't just plug it in your MacBook ... connect an hdmi cable ... and plug that into your TV.

YOU ALSO HAVE TO ADJUST YOUR SCREEN SETTINGS (I.E. DETECT DISPLAYS / TURN ON MIRRORING / ADJUST PICTURE CALIBRATION / ETC. ) FROM YOUR MAC TO SHARE WITH A TV!

Your own ignorance shouldn't be your reason to verbally trash this great product that works perfectly! …More

the cord works awesome, you just have to change a few settings.
once the word is plugged up on all ends,
go to system preferences, then displays, and make sure that under arrangements,
mirror displays is checked.
then also under system preferences, go to sound, and under outputs select your hdmi device (tv, etc.) for sound output (it may say that the device has no output controls, ignore that)

then it should all be working perfectly.

Best MDP to HDMI Yet!

I'll be honest: I've purchased many $5 dongles on eBay. They have either worked sometimes, or haven't worked at all. Also with those, the video was the only part that worked when it did. With this Belkin dongle, everything works every time! I would highly recommend this to anyone comparing this to cheap adapters on eBay. Those are not worth it! You'll have to replace them in a month. Save yourself the hassle and buy this. For those wondering: to set up the audio output, one has to go to System Preferences>Sound>Output to allow the Mini DisplayPort to output the audio. …More

Belkin should be embarrassed for putting out something so poorly made. It worked for maybe 1 month, after which it required jiggling around to make work, after which it failed completely. Avoid at all costs. …More

Lasted six months - then died quickly

My experience appears typical of many -- the video (and audio) was fine at first with my current-model MacBook Air, then the picture started to go out occasionally, which I discovered could be fixed by disconnecting and reconnecting the adapter, or lightly jiggling the connection. But soon, no amount of reconnecting or jiggling would help, and all I'd see on my connected monitor was video noise. The adapter was treated with care and never left my desk; usage of the MacBook air with adapter and external monitor probably averaged about 30-45 minutes a day for the six months it worked. I don't know why the failure rate seems to be so high -- not just on this adapter but, based on the reviews, on similar Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters from other manufacturers. …More

No sound at all

I bought this cable so I can use my HDTV as a extended desktop. For this, the cable works perfectly.
But once I tried to see a movie on my tv, using the cable, the surprise! The sound doesn't work on the cable.
The manufacturer doesn't explain this on the box, neither i saw this complain here on this forum.
After a lot of research, I found out that the cable only sends sound on new Mac Book's.
I bought mine MacBook on December 2009.
So I'm here to share my experience, so others like me don't get confused and buy the wrong cable for their needs. …More

I have this item and i can't transfer digital audio w/Bootcamp (Windows 7 x64) (Macbook Air 2011).

It works perfectly in Lion (DTS, Dolby etc), but..you know...you can't play blurays or high bit rate videos in Lion..you need 500% more hardware than in Windows with DXVA....

Also i don't think the problem is the adapter, is a hardware/drivers problem. …More
