    Doesn't work.

Attempted to connect my Sony HX7V using this connector and got the message "The connected USB device uses too much power".

The camera is NOT attempting to charge over the USB connection, so why this doesn't work is bafflingly moronic.

Wasn't cheap either. Very, very disappointed.

A huge THANKS to the reviewer who suggested this - the adapter worked fine with my newish Powershot, but using my EOS 20D, which is pretty old, I got a message that the device was not supported. I was ready to send the adapter back, because I really need it for the EOS, my main camera- I am going to England this summer and am only taking my iPad Mini, not my laptop, so have to have some way to back up photos (losing photos due to a lost/damaged card, camera, etc would be beyond tragic)

Then I read the review that suggested going to the camera's menu and changing the Communication setting from Normal to PTP. Tada!! Success - the pictures loaded right up, I am very happy, and the adapter does not have to go back to Apple.

Pricey and it does what it says on the TIN.

Lightning to USB Camera Adapter is perfect for my needs. It does what it says and that is conenct a digital camera (Canon 60D) and transfer photos (I only shoot RAW) and videos to my Ipad mini. Fast Photos/videos transfer and they are not altered in any way. Be careful though as it requires precise power requirement from the device. If your device USB requires a lot of power then the Ipad mini will not be able to provide that power which is understandable. Mostly devices that requires charging via USB connection, those may fail as they consume too much power. Digital SLR like my Canon 60D does nto recharge from USB connection. 4 stars cause it is a bit expensive.

I was worried about the previous reviews, but I am totally satisfied with this product. it works with my Canon EOS DSLR and also with my old Olympus Camedia. I think people may be having problems with their camera's not being fully charged up when they try to transfer.

I was initially worried after reading other reviews that it would not work with my Lumix DMC-FS15 and Lumix TZ10 camera's. It works perfectly, you can preview pics and choose which ones you want to load onto iPad. Very pleased with purchase. Just wish iPad could be connected to Garmin Dakota 20 GPS. Please Apple.

Can't make it work with Canon PowerShot S95

It doesn't seem to work with the Canon PowerShot S95. I could not find the Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) setting on my camera and nothing is stated in regards to PTP in the camera's manual.

If somebody had success with the S95, please let me know. Thanks

A tip to those whose devices "require too much power".

You can plug in an external powered USB-Hub in between the iPad and the other device. This will help power that other device (eg camera) and it should work. But of course this is not something we want to take on our trips as it is just another thing to carry around and besides, it needs a power plug! (Of course you could carry around a battery to power the USB hub. But that's really inconvenient)

Apple needs to turn up the power of the USB port!

I was so excited when I first got this. I got it for Christmas and it worked for about 1 month (with a Canon Rebel and a Canon PowerShot). However, shortly after that, it quit recognizing both of those cameras. I was thinking I'd return it and get an SD card reader, but it sounds like the reviews for that are just as bad! Come on Apple, get it together.

I went to the Apple Store to purchase the item. Upon returning home, I connected it to my iPad/Retina display and my Nikon D3 and it worked just as advertised. It's going to work out nicely in the field as I'm a Pro photographer and will no longer have to carry around my laptop to show images to my clients.

I will simply make the connection and display my images within seconds. Sure beats attempting to show images via the 3 inch LCD screen on the back of my camera.

    Thanks Apple!
