    Disappointing

    • Written by from Parrearra

Despite taking great care of this cord after reading about how fragile they are, my cord didn't last more than a few months before the plastic cracked and wires were exposed. Taping up the end gave it a few more weeks but it was unreliably charging, looking like it was charging to begin with but then saying 'Not Charging'. It's really annoying that such a simple yet essential component can't be relied on, and is so expensive to replace. Great money spinner for Apple.

    Disposable Cord Deserves Disposable Pricing

    • Written by from Jacksonville

I'm on my fifth lightening cord in less than one year. I have wrapped the length of my newest cord in electrical tape hoping this will extend the life. If not, it's time to consider other products, which is sad as I have loved the seamless integration of my iPhone with my iPad and iMac. But continually purchasing cords for already high-priced items is insanity. Clearly there is a design flaw. Apple, it's time to drastically cut the price of this cord to match it's disposable performance, or redesign this cord. Either way, your loyal customers deserve apologies at the least.

CABLES are good! Beware of the LINT!!

    • Written by from Los Angeles

I was having troubles with charging my phone and had to keep the cable strained in various angles. Like all other users here, I thought that cable quality was bad. Its not the cable, its the LINT that gets accumulated in the charging slot. Just take a toothpick and clean the charging slot properly. You will be able to see a lot of Lint coming of the slot. Once the slot is clean, the cable will work fine. GOOD LUCK!!

    Ridiculous

I'm so over buying these cords for my iPhone 5. I've had my iPhone for a bit over a year and I've been through 9 and the one I have now doesn't work anymore and I bought it 8 days ago. I don't misuse them, they are kept in great condition and stored correctly after use. It's not just me, I have many friends also. As this is happening to everyone, the demand for them is high and get more expensive. I've spent $180 on cords so far and I'm about to go out and buy my 10th. I'm over it!

I have been through many of these cords for my iPone 5. I wish I could go back to the 4s. These cords are expensive garbage! Hope they can get something figured out on how to improve the quality of this product.

    Designed By APPLE, or China?

    • Written by from norristown

Apple, how many reviews does it take for you to change your design/supplier? The cable is $20! Would it be that much harder to add a few dollars into the actual quality of the cable after the chip? Even if it was $25, but heavy duty and lasted, it would be worth it. This needs to be fixed before the 6 is released. Fix it!

    Poor Quality

    • Written by from Donna

I've bought so many cables for my sister and I that I've lost count. We go through them about once every couple of months. They bend after constant use (I charge once or twice a day) and just stop charging. It's starting to feel like it's the most expensive part about owning an iphone. Apple needs to do something about it before it starts losing customers.

If i could give no stars i would

The old cable for the 4/4S lasted nearly 2 and a half years. I've had this a matter of a few months and its stopped working. Seems everyone is having the same problem with the cable coming loose at the lightening end.

An absolute joke to charge hundreds of pounds for 'top of the line' tech, and then not even be able to switch it on without shelling out £15 every few months!

    Sort it out APPLE!

    • Written by from LONDON

Oh dear, oh dear. This is the Worst product Apple have forced upon us for years and as I've been an Apple user since the Apple II Europlus (look it up) . The cable is flimsy (I'm on to my third in 7 months ) , unreliable and a rip off. What on earth were they thinking? Garbage. No stars at all.

I'm on to my second cable now and i'm going elsewhere to find a cheaper one. The quality of this cable is horrendous, within a week of getting a replacement from Apple, my second cable broke. It has happened to many of my friends who are equally as annoyed. SORT THIS OUT!!!

Like everyone else here, Apple needs to address the poor quality of its Lightning cable. I mean i have an iPad mini, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and their 3 lightning cables got screwd. I really can´t keep buying lightning cables for al my devices which I use a lot. Apple DO something!

    Broken cord

    • Written by from Mandan

After reading reviews of the lightning cable, I realize that I'm lucky that this lasted me about six months. I had no problem with it up until today when it just stopped working. It looks fine, but won't charge. I read that they can be replaced at the apple store if it's still under warranty, but the nearest apple store to me is four hours away. I'm really not enthused with having to spend 19$ on a new cord, but since I need one ASAP that's my only option. Apple really needs to fix these cables; having to buy a new one every few months is ridiculous!

2 out of 4 are dead

    • Written by from Beverly

Have 4 of these that are less than or barely a year old, and 2 of them are completely dead. 2 came with iphones, 2 I bought separately at $30 a pop. I think 1200+ people on here rating a product 1 star, means you have a problem, Apple.

How sad to have such a great product as the iPhone 5 on one side and then this piece of junk that is the lightning charging cable on the other. The one that came with my iPhone didn't last us 6 months and you just can't rely on the cheaper ones, those only last 2-4 weeks. I've gone through 6 already and honestly it is getting ridiculous now. Today my charger started giving me problems, not charging if the connector is at certain angles, or saying the charger is not supported and not charging at all. Disappointed, even more in the lack of interest Apple is showing while not addressing this.

    Worst Apple product EVER!

    • Written by from Marília

This is far the worst Apple product I've ever had. Came with my iPhone 5 that I've bought in June 2013, and the cable has been gone. Unique engineering, in the most negative way, the cable is susceptible to corrosion in absurd ways. Even living in the countryside, far away from the sea, river or lake, my cable had rusty metal contacts fisrt, and then the cable sheath broke few days later.

I took it to Apple Care and I was told that the product would not be repaired or exchanged, because it was my (misuse) blame. Put my tail between my legs and I left the store without the courage to pay almost 40 dollars (here in Brazil) in a new model with the same specifications of mine, and very, very disappointed. How can I pay 40 dollars for something with no modifications and which seems to have the same problems in a near future?

I went online to see if the problem was just me. Just type in any search engine on the web to come a barrage of links to sites telling the truth about this product and its poor construction.

I'm disappointed in Apple quality, also liability and, of course, trust.

This is my third one and lasted the shortest. What is going on Apple? You need to have better quality control. And exchange for customer when it breaks.
