    Useless kit

    • Written by from Verwood

I recently bought this kit. It no longer works after updating my iPad to ios8. Do not waste your money. Apple do not have an answer.

Sd kit doesn't work with ios8

    • Written by from Raleigh

I loved my sd card connector for my iPad until I upgraded my system to ios8. If Apple has experienced this glitch with previous updates, why not address it before the update comes out??? Please fix ASAP. Some of us do have real cameras. Would give 4 stars, except you don't address this glitch when you know it is likely to happen!!

OK if you have a newer camera

    • Written by from Palmer

Bought this adapter to backup photos from my Canon G2 which I use on trips. Not possible. When the two are connected a get an incompatibility message - G2 is not supported. That makes the product a total waste for my purposes.

Tried it with a newer camera which other family members sometimes use and it worked OK but since they don't usually travel with me and I don't use their cameras it's useless.

I'm hoping to find an app that might work with the G2 but so far no luck and local "experts" say to blame the photo app that came with the iPad - not the adapter. So I'll keep looking.

I love the connection kit so much! I used to have to use a computer to upload my pictures and send them to my phone. It would usually take me 1 hour just to send and load 3 pictures. Now it takes me 3 minutes just to upload and send them to my iphone! It's also very easy to use!

    Works like a champ!

    • Written by from Andover

Just picked one up from local Apple store and tested it with my iPad 2 that's running iOS 7.1.1. As soon as I connect it to my iPad 2 and insert the SD card it shows an "import" option under photos. Shows the thumbnails and lets me select and Import the photos to my iPad 2. After import gives me an option to keep or delete the imported photos from the SD card. Tried 2 different SD cards and they both worked fine. Was very skeptical after reading the recent reviews but it just works.

iPad Camera Connection Kit totally useless

    • Written by from Huddersfield

I have an iPad with IOS 7.1.2. Neither the SD Card Reader nor the Camera Connector works. The Photo application loads automatically but it says "No photos to import" although my Windows 7 PC reads them with no problem.
In general from my experience I believe the iPad is good for use in isolation but of little use if you want to use it with the other equipment I have tried.

Works perfectly with my Canon Eos Rebel T3

    • Written by from La Place

I purchased the CCK to edit pics on the go and to get them off of my camera (Canon Eos Rebel T3) without having to tote around my laptop. Works like a charm and very user friendly like all Apple products I've purchased. I read the reviews and was skeptical at first not knowing if my camera was compatible. No issues at all.

    No longer recognised by iPad

    • Written by from Sydney

Can only assume an iOS update has made this item redundant so surprised that this is still available for sale. Our camera hasn't changed but the device is now shown as an unrecognised accessory. Glad we tested before heading away again.

    Does what its meant to

    • Written by from Sunderland

Bought this to use with my iPad 2 then bought the Lightning adapter so I could use it with my newer iPad Mini. It works every time, picks up all the SD and SDHC cards I've tried with it and transfers reasonable quickly.

I shoot with a number of cameras and having this is a great way to make quick edits on the go, email images and upload to forums/FB etc. App such as Snapseed and PS Touch are fantastically powerful and the fact the iPads handle most RAW files straight out of the camera means I don't need to convert them to jpegs first. With the Mini being neat enough to stuff in a camera bag and carry everywhere I have found this kit invaluable when I don't have access to a laptop but want to edit a photograph.

Five stars and a happy customer.

    great product

    • Written by from Perth

works great with my ipad just a shame apple couldnt allow it users of iphones to have the same use
wouldve been a lot easier to transfer photos to iphone for display than go through the whole itunes route , which is a pain to say the least
along with app price rises , apples heading down the wrong path , cheaper to by magazines at newsagency in australia than purchase on the iPad

    Extremely poor experience

    • Written by from Coral Springs

In the past this product worked a few times, but whether the product failed or one of the iOS upgrades removed software support for the device, it no longer works. I plug the device in and then plug in an SD or SDHC card and "Photos" opens...but all it shows is the photos already on my iPad, and there is no menu option or popup to import photos or select photos for import from the SD card. Totally pointless. Either it is an unreliable device or it is unsupported by the most recent release of iOS...either way it is a waste of money.

    Wish I had this sooner

    • Written by from Canfield

I received this product from the Apple online Store for my Ipad 2 version 7.0.6. I plugged my Canon 7d into the USB connector. It immediately recognized the camera and allowed me to import all of my photos or to select the ones I wanted. Worked flawlessly! I wish I would have had this product on my recent trip to India.

Nice surprise: It works with an iPhone and GarageBand

    • Written by from kanata

I wasn't expecting this to work when I acquired it with a USB musical keyboard but I can confirm that the USB part of this set works with an iPhone 4 running iOS v7.1 connected to an M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 and GarageBand. So cool!

    • Written by from Petersfield

Don't waste your money on this connector kit as it doesn't operate as you would expect. Total waste of money, so much so that I use a Samsung Tab now and have given the iPad to my wife, who leaves all the techie stuff to me. Apple, you're a BIG disappointment!

    Great until iOS 7

    • Written by from London

Used to be fantastic for viewing images on the go (read from SD card). A card full of images would read in seconds and indicate raw+jpeg in the photos app. Since upgrading to iOS 7(ipad 3) read speed has dropped by an order of magnitude or two and is effectively unusable with a card containing more than a few tens of images. I'm not sure if the problem occurs with jpegs only but if like me you like to shoot raw (+jpeg) you're likely to have the same problem. Not recommended until Apple (hopefully) fix the issue in iOS 7.1.

The card reader works well enough but not with any of my USB cards. They all produce the error message that they draw too much power. This means that only half the kit works and this should have been made clear by Apple in its sales literature, in which event I would not had made the purchase.

    A great iPad accessory

    • Written by from Sydney

Before I write the review, I did not give it 5 stars because:
    1. Still no similar device for iPad Air, had to buy the pin to lightning adapter.
    2. Neither supports the iPhone nor imports photos from the iPhone (it might though, I did not try, really).
    3. Only SD card and USB support. What about say, micro?

It is a great device, great design and classy. Works with iPad 2, 3, Air just fine. It is very light, easy to use, no extra set-up needed. A tad expensive but worth it if you are a serious photographer.

Camera connection kit - finally got it to work

    • Written by from Auckland

Initially I had no response or recognition from the iPad that the kit was attached and I therefore thought it wasnt working. Read the feedback on this site and thought "oh well, win some lose some". Talked to others, some with similar experience and then a suggestion led to me trying it again. Eureka! Success.

    1. Make sure camera is set ot communicate using PTP protocols. IMPORTANT, otherwise you may get a message that your camera is not supported.
    1. Plug it in, connect camera or insert card.
    3. WAIT. It takes up to 1 minute for the iPad to recognise it.
    4. Once recognised, iPad opens photo app with "import" at bottom.
    5. WAIT. It takes MORE time to download thumbnails. I had 1000+ and hadn't waited long enough; needed about 5 minutes. Sometimes this is the first feedback you get that things are working.
    6. Using SD Card is faster than USB Camera connect and load thumbnails.

Good luck - hope this helps.
