    Great RAID System!

    I love how fast it is and quiet. It works very nicely! The only complain I have: the description states it is 8TB (4drives 2TB each), but actually one of the drives is already sacrificed for the RAID management which takes about 2TB, so you only have 6TB left to work with. I was dissapointed about this mis-understanding. They said you can erase the Raid system and get all 8TB available, but hey, that's why we pay such high price in the first place: to get it all secured with this RAID system - so of course you keep it there. That way, even if your 1 drive goes bad - you don't really lose any data... Overall, I am currently still very happy with how it performs.

    Outstanding performance, but

    I had a drive carrier go bad within one week. The manual describes how to replace the drive which I did, since the Promise Utility software told me that was what was wrong, but still did not fix the issue. Promise support told me that replacing a drive that did not come from Promise or Apple was not advised and any damage caused would not be covered under warranty. None the less they sent me a new drive in a new carrier, which I received in a week and with the help of support got it to work. My R4 is running fine now. Although I did not lose any data, my RAID was in a critical state for a week, before the issue was fixed. Support was, however very helpful and patient.

    I have been Advised by Promise TW these are
    Pegasus R4 /R6 are pre-configured systems with HDD installed. You may not be able to install HDD by your own
    They Quoted

    I take it this means you can Not put any Common Manufacturers HDD in them
    Also they Stated this Which is Interesting

    In Australia, Promise’s partners Datastor, Digicor and Amicore are shorting Pegasus products until September. Meanwhile, you can get it from Apple on-line store

    Works as advertised

    Plug it in and it works. It also comes with decent software for reconfiguring the RAID settings if you have specific needs. So easy to use it'd be boring if it weren't also so darn fast.
