No audio STILL - after spending $50 on worthless software!

Still trying to convert my digital camera mpegs of my kids to a format that I can use on idvd or imovie and so far nothing works with audio. What good are baby toddler videos without hearing their sweet little voices? I am so regretting getting a mac at this point. I still have family waiting over 6 months for some little dvd & I've spent all my (very limited) free time trying to master this little bit of software. I thought macs were supposed to be easier to use! What a disappointment and a waste of money on this software!

I should have listened to the other reviews. I have mpg files and after downloading this program, I also had video, but no sound. I called apple care and I have to do all of this google searching convert my files just so i can use imovie. Boo! Apple really should make this easier and FREE! No refunds, so buyer beware.

Works well. Does what it says. In my opinion this should have been included in an upgrade. After a drive failure I have to buy this again? What a disappointment.

MAC OSX Audio and Video works converting Client's Windows MPG

Scared to try this after reading all the negative reviews but it worked fine for me. I was unable to open on my MAC (OSX 10.3.9) using Quicktime 7.1.3 (not Pro version) a Client's MPG file that had been formatted in Windows. The MPEG-2 Playback worked fine playing both Audio & Video. Five thumbs up!

I too was suckered into buying this mis advertised product.

No sound with my DVD import,

    Apple: fix it!

Plus this board is well hidden so that one does not know about this, with no reference in the apple support discussion groups.

Does not play nice with JVC camcorder files

I installed this thing and still cannot view a JVC MPEG2 video file in quicktime (no sound and no video). The only way to view it is using MPEG Streamclip? Converting to a mac has been one headache after another. What is the use of having a HDD camcorder if you have to spend hours converting the video files into something the mac recognizes, when the format is already DVD friendly? Apple, why is it so much to ask to equip your supposedly superior computers with the same audio/video codecs as much more affordable PC's?

Extremely disappointed. I just upgraded to Quicktime pro, and then bought the codec, and still no video from my new Sony. I expected so much more...

They got my $20. I downloaded this to edit my mpegs I have saved and well no sound. I have to overlay sound to anything I need to hear and then export it again. I am finding myself in windows to edit and re-export files, which is the opposite of what the mac is for.

I have the DCR SR 100. I bought this hoping to play my newly recorder movies. The movies play but there is no sound. Another reviewer said to use the freeware MPEG Streamclip. It works. Go to the main Apple page and do a search for MPEG STREAMCLIP. Don't waste your money on this. With the freeware you can export to quicktime or several other formats.

No Good for .MOD / mpeg 2 files!

I bought this so I could 'see' the .MOD files that the Panasonic SDR-H20 camera uses... .MOD is an mpeg 2 variant. However, once this plug was installed... QuickTime opened the file... GREAT PICTURE, NO SOUND! So... if you have .MOD files, drop them into TOAST TITANIUM and choose 'Disc/Export Video'... shame I didn't work that out before wasting my hard earned cash! I love Apple... but why am I increasingly having to use third party alternatives... what's going on Steve?

I have a Sony DCR-IP220 that produces mmv files. Of course, Sony no longer supports that format so I basically have a verrrry expensive "betamax". I needed some way to see, convert and edit these on my iMac and MacBook Pro. After reading several posts all over the net, I finally settled on "MPEG StreamClip v. 1.93b4" (beta) and went ahead, bought and installed the MPEG-2 Playback Component for MAC OS X. All of this took place after hours and hours of trying different player converters/add-ons, etc.

All I can say is that it works and works flawlessly. I have NONE of the problems reported by many others regarding loss of audio. Since I am converting from a proprietary file type (Sony mmv) I didn't have much hope that it would work at all but, so far, (with fingers crossed) no problems whatsoever.

I am converting mmv files and most of the reviewers on here don't have to deal with that headache but I have to say that I am a little bit happier with my "betamax" now. :)))

I have a Panasonic Camcorder that is hard drive based and I had family come out to see me last month and I told my brother what I was wanting to do with this camera so he bought this for me and I ran some footage that was taken with the camera and converted it to import into iMovie and it worked as advertised. Nice job Apple.

WASTE OF MONEY - doesn't work

I'm a professional editor and I have nothing but problems editing on a Mac. Seems that everything has to be a mov-based file for it to work, even with AVID on a Mac. Insane!! So I downloaded this to aid in importing MP2 files, and I can't even get it to work at all. The installer only says it's for QT6. The download said it was for QT 6 or 7 and Pro. I have QT7Pro. Did I just waste $20?
