This answer has changed. The MacBook Airs from late 2010 do not have IRDA ports, so this remote won't work, but will work with the older MacBook Air.

Best AnswerYes you can use this remote for Keynote and Power Point presentations. Just sync the remote to your computer, and press the arrow keys to go back and forth on your presentation. NOTE: Be sure to stay in the room computer is in.

Best AnswerThe above answer is almost correct. The new MacBook October 20, 2009 white unibody does not
support the Apple Remote.

Best AnswerAlmost all macs have an IR receiver. Least since 2005. Unfortunately, the new MacBook does not have an IR receiver. It and the Mac Pro are currently the only ones without support.

I just got the Apple remote today for use on powerpoint 2011 and it does work. you can advance forward and backwards with the left and right buttons. I don't know what else it can do within powerpoint but it does work.

AnswerUnfortunately not. The Apple remote uses infrared which no Smartphones use. Your best option is to look for a third party option

will it still magnetically attach itself to the white iMac?
does it still work with the magnet built-in to the original white imacs? I lost my white remote recently and if this one doesn't have this function enabled i don't really want to buy it because i lost my original one by not keeping it on my iMac!
