I am trying to decide between what mac to get as a university student
I currently have an ipad and I feel that it is not reaching its needs as my course is heavily loaded with presentations etc.
I want to get a MacBook Pro 13" but I do not know whether I should get the retna or standard one.
Which mac would run better if I undertake these activities on it:
-word documents constantly 5+ hours 3-5 days a week
-power point presentations
-occasional movies
-occasional games ... Mainly league of legends
-lots of web browsing.. Multiple tabs open at a time
Etc
I understand that the processor is the only thing I cannot upgrade, and the dual core worries me for the occasional game, I am not sure how it will go as I'm new to mac. It is necessary to get the top end retna (I'm leaning towards the retna) over the lower end as they only have a minor difference in the processors I.e. 2.5 & 2.6 with a turbo boost of 3.1 and 3.1.
Thanks!!!- Asked by Erin D from Cromer

256gb vs 512gb for student and gamer
I'm a high school student looking to buy a 15" rMBP for use throughout the last half of high school and all of college. I would use the laptop to play video games occasionally but I don't plan on having too many downloaded at once. Also I download a little music, but I never download movies or tv shows. I still can't decide whether 256gb will be a large enough hard drive or if I should upgrade it to 512gb. Please help?

Best AnswerMacBook Pro, not Mac Pro.
It uses both, if a application needs better graphics it would require the strongest which is GT650. At its base it start with 4000 HD. You can also download a third party software to change your GPU (graphic card)
Usually laptops have two, just if you want to save money then you have a choice of buying one with integrated graphic card.- Answered by Samad G

MacBook Air or MacBook Pro?
So I'm entering in my 3rd year of university, and it involves a transfer from a smaller campus to a large one. I already have a desktop for heavy duty work (games, movies, etc.) and I want a laptop that I can carry to classes with realative ease. I will be traveling alot as I have a full course load, so this laptop would be used mostly for going to and from classes or from my rental place to home. I have narrowed it down to either the 13" MacBook Air with the 256GB and the MacBook Pro 13", I just don't know which one would be better for dealing with traveling and taking intensive notes, etc. Any help would be great and thanks in advance!

Best AnswerComparing my Macbook Air 11 vs Macbook Pro 13, I would recommend the Macbook Pro because of its more powerful 2.8 ghz processor over the Macbook Air's 1.8 ghz. It also has its own optical drive that comes in handy to burn your own music CD, play DVDs and load an occasional software. The one thing that I use my Air over my Pro model is for business trips because every ounce counts. Overall, I think you will be best off with the Pro model. If you decide to get the Air though, get 4gb of RAM because you cannot upgrade it later.
