Answer
If your desktop is a Mac, is later than mid 2011, is running OSX 10.8 and if both the desktop and the ATV are on the same network then yes, it will. (more info on this on Apple's site - look for Airplay Mirroring as part of Mountain Lion.)

If I connect Apple TV to a Bose T20 Lifestyle system, will it also broadcast to other wireless speakers?
What I hope to do is use my MacBook Pro to broadcast sound to wireless speakers. I was given Aiport TV as a gift and I already have the AirPort Express Base Station for internet access.
I have the Bose T20 in one room for TV watching. If I connect the Apple TV to the Bose will it also broadcast to other wireless speakers in different rooms? Also if all this works I just use iTunes, right?
Thanks for any help.- Asked by Thomas F from Marlborough

Yes. Additionally you need an iPhone, iTouch or iPad and get filebrowser app ($5). And have your wireless home network working. You have to set up filebrowser, so it can see the tc drive and the files that are on it. When your iPhone starts playing back the movie, it has a little monitor button which lets you choose applte tv. It takes a while load then...
It works for me only 80% of the time. Sometimes I have to restart everything and scrubbing through films usually kills it. It's not perfect. I wonder if another network drive would perform better than time capsule. Also I hope that there would be a possibility to access network drive content directly via apple tv....- Answered by Sylke F from New York

Yes using Air Play Mirroring you can view the video on your TV but if you have a HDTV and require a 1080p display, you may need the current gen apple tv. With gen 2 you will only get a 720p display which looks like a veritical letter box on a widescreen HDTV. If you app has native air play support then you can get full screen eg. Apple TV and iTunes
I have airplay devices on my home network and can use the remote app on my iPhone to stream the music to the devices from iTunes on my PC. Can apple TV be used to listen to my iTunes library as well in a different room. I know airport express can do this but Apple TV has HDMI output thus better quality sound etc.
