The mic does not work with the ipod touch 1st generation. To get a mic for the first generation ipod touch, you will need one that plugs into the bottom of the ipod (the docking port) there are a few out there to pick from.

  • Buy the Macally iVoicePro. This external Mic/Speaker combo plugs into the universal dock port and also has separate Microphone and Headset jacks (stereo Mic Input). I use this with the native Skype application for iPod as well as a number of other voice apps, it works perfectly on my iPod Touch 1st Gen.
