what is mountain lion & snow leopard ?

Sorry guys, I am just looking at buying an Imac, but don't know anything abut them ??

    Mountain lion and snow leopard are different updates of the computer operating system, OS X. Mountain lion is the name given for OS 10.8 and Snow Leopard is the name given for OS 10.6, with Lion in the middle at OS 10.7.

    But if you buy a new iMac, it should come with the latest version of the operating system, which is Mountain Lion, currently at 10.8.2. And if it is running Snow leopard or higher, than you can upgrade online by opening the "App Store" on the iMac and buying and downloading the upgrades to get to the latest release.

    Of course, if you are buying an older iMac, then double check which version of the operating system is the highest one that will run on that machine. Each new version has system requirements that an older machine may not meet.
