i need to convert my files on the Mac from numbers and pages to excel and word. What is the easiest way to do this?

  Just go to the "Share" menu and either email the document in the format you want it in or just export the document in the format you want. Besides the .DOC or .XLS format there are other formats as well like .PDF or epub files.
  
  Also, Pages and Numbers can open and work with Word and Excel documents natively, just open the .doc or .xls file using the open with command.
