    Where is the sub-woofer?

    • Written by from Baldwin

When I first heard these demoed, I looked under the table to see if there was a sub-woofer. I was impressed! Such sound in such a small package.
Yes, I bought them and I'm using them regularly.

    Amazing sound

    • Written by from brisbane

I have a set and they do sound fantasic and they are perfect for someone who is into the sound quality for a small computer speaker set and i got the portable carry bag for them. They work with any iPhone or iPad and anything with a 3.5mm plug on it and it comes with a remote control.

    These speakers are really good.

    • Written by from Townsville

These are my first pair of Bose speakers, so I wasn't sure what to expect as all the reviews say that eh are either really good, or really bad. I am no audiophile, but to me these sound absolutely fantastic. I was just making do with the internal speakers of my 27"iMac( I AirPlay to my 5.1 surround sound system in the living room if I want to crank up music), but when I upgraded to the new MacBook Pro Retina the internal speakers just weren't cutting it. Too quiet, no bass. Having said that, the internal speakers on the retina are better than the non retina MacBook, but that is for a different review.

Anyway, I wanted to keep from having too many cords attached to my MacBook, somI also bought an Apple Airport Express so that I could use these speakers wirelesly. I have each speaker on each edge of my desk facing towards me and they just sound fantastic. Better then fantastic. Bass sounds quite good. I teted it with all different kinds of music, from Enya to classical to hard rock. It all sounds good. Try blasting Boston's "More Than A Feeling" from them, wow is all I can say.

    Awesome sound for size

    • Written by from Wyndham

I only have very limited desk top space so these speakers are perfect. Amazing sound for size although priced a little on the high side.

    Very Disappointing...

    • Written by from Mindarie

I read all the reviews and took on the bad ones with the good. I had levelled expectations based on the two perspectives so I wasn't expecting miracles. Unpacked I couldn't believe how small they are. Even seeing videos on youtube etc they seemed bigger. To give you an idea if I put my Iphone4 up against the front it covers the front of one speaker exactly!

Anyway, the build quality is awesome - no complaints there and the small size is a bonus if you want small speakers tucked away. But that's where the good stops.

Basically you can tell straight away that the sound is coming from small drivers. Bass is boxy at best. Tops were muted and mid range average.

I had to eq the top end up and adjust the 1k area just to make them sound half decent. They have a bit of volume but the sound quality at any level is very ordinary.

If I had paid $80-$90 for these I would have been pleased with the purchase and the sound quality would be in line with the price tag. At the price they were unfortunately they are a huge rip-off.

It's my first experience with Bose and not a good one. i suggest anyone considering them please hear them first either at a shop or at someones house that you know. If you still do buy them, then buy them for their looks and form factor only because you won't be getting any sound quality.

    The Worst Computer Speakers

    • Written by from Brisbane

I was given these speakers by a friend, the only good thing that I have found about these speakers is their design. The sound is horrible for their price and size. Good speakers are bowers wilkins mm1 or focal xs to mention some computer speakers. Bose's lovers should research the company in google and see what they find if they type why bose is not a good speaker maker. just to give you something to think about what is the frequency response for these speakers and what is the amplifier output per speaker or channel. Bose will not tell you anything regarding their speakers.

Punchy and then punchy again - Wow!

    • Written by from COBAR

I read all the reviews over and over, these were just too small for the price - Bit the bullet and glad I did.

Thought I would challenge the bass - first song was Lou Reed (Walk on the Wild Side), in the first two bars (intro) I had never noticed the bass strings rattling on the frets before - try it at your local Apple Store, it's nuts.

They got the plug pack design all wrong, once it is in a power board it is so wide you can't plug other things in next to it - aghh!

Anyway, I got them for sound not the aesthetics.

Don't have a carry case so when it's travel time they each get stuffed in a big wooly work sock.

It's Bose and it just works.

    Bose a great marketing company

    • Written by from Edmonton

Most reviewers think this is a high quality sound but they have not listened to really good quality sound. The Bose Computer MusicMonitor have a good design, but that is all.

I received them as a present from my wife and they are disappointing. If you want great quality sound, listen to british speakers like B&W...and read reviews from specialized magazines like Audiophile, Hi-FI Choice, etc., but above all, trust your ears.

    Bose, a great marketing company...

Bose Computer MusicMonitor - 'Perfect in imperfection' (by Charles)

    • Written by from Manchester

I bought a set of this Computer MusicMonitor after reading through all the reviews. The reviews are very helpful, especially the one written by JW from Wimbledon.

It’s impressive that the speakers were delivered in the next day. But of course this is not the key point. I’m very surprised by the ‘mature’ and 'full' sound quality from such small compact size speakers. But on the other hand not surprised, I know it’s BOSE’s strength to provide quality sound from small size. I agree that the bass is slightly richer than the highs. But it could only be felt as an imperfection rather than defect in those highly ‘acoustically sensitive’ ears, not any inferior at all for general music enjoyment. I agree you can’t expect it to match those high end, but why should you? I’d summarize this MusicMonitor as ‘perfect in the imperfection’. After receiving them and listening to them, I immediately placed my order for a carrying case (on BOSE website) as I know I’ll be perfectly happy to carry them to use with my MacBook or iPhone away from home/office because of their excellent sound quality in great volume suitable for presentation for up to 100-people room or a small-scale dance ball. By the way, the audio cables are comfortably long enough for use with my 27-inch iMac in office, so won’t be any problem with a MacBook.

    Awesome!

    • Written by from RIO RANCHO

These are a great sounding set of speakers. To get the best of them, you should have a great sound card, or even better, I have mine hooked up to an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra via my iMac. They sound so good that I bought a second pair for my other iMac. The good thing about these speakers is that they do not have an overwhelming bass. Just enough bass, and great highs.

Nice but not worth the money

    • Written by from Auckland

Love the look & size, build quality. Sound pretty good - bass a little limited, but not worth the money. You're paying for the name & the sound-for-the-size ratio. The Bose Companion 3 Series II are a significantly better sound but obviously less portable.

Excellent sound from build quality that matches Apple standards (& design!)

    • Written by from WATCHET

These little speakers produce amazing sound for their size, with two caveats... let them run in well, and make sure the source is high quality. They will reveal defects in low quality recordings or audio files of too low resolution. Obviously they don't match high end audiophile monitors, but then nobody should expect them to. But for big sound in a small high quality package I highly recommend them.

    Compact Power

    • Written by from King George

Bottom-line, these speakers are Fantastic! Compact in size, Big on Sound. I travel a lot for business, both here in the US and over seas, and like having my music collection with me or movies I rent from iTunes. The speakers size and custom case are the perfect fit for me, added to my 17" MacBook Pro and you've got a great travel package. You could pay more, but why would you when these speakers deliver!
Would definitely highly recommend these Bose speakers to my family and friends!

    WORDS CAN'T DESCRIBE

    • Written by from Adelaide

It's hard to really put into perspective just how good these little speakers are, I wanted a good PC speaker that would provide a completely natural sound as is, hence the word "Monitor" these little speakers let you hear everything in a song composition, harmonies come alive bass remains deep and transparent throughout songs, providing a pleasant punch even at medium volume, songs never sounded better... the stereo sound these speakers produce is amazing, sound stage seems very wide really bringing out that live effect, it's very hard to get listeners fatigue with these speakers as they don't seem to produce tinnyy sounding high notes or simulated bass, everything comes alive, very natural very high quality design indeed, the best part ....apart from how good they sound is the design, such big crisp sound in a small design that takes no room, you hardly notice they're there, brilliant if you ask me no one wants to see speakers, expensive at $499, but hear them in action, like with every bose product, it will last a lifetime so the investment is very little .....

Nice speaker. Audio input cable too short, something, that should not happen with a speaker of that price class. Disappointing
