    Useless

This would be much better if it was usable-I bought a protective case and adaptor at the same time from my local apple store, but you can't use the adaptor if the case is on the phone. Disappointing.

Recently I have bought an IPAD Air and a lightning to 30-pin adapter but I am not able to use my old 30-pin to VGA adapter because I always get the message that the accessory is not compatible with this IPAD although all of them I have bought in an Apple store!!
It is really difficult to understand why it does not work...

Good adaptor - too bad the pin is short

    • Written by from Nyborg

I have a Philips night lamp whit the old 30 pin connector, so I got the adaptor for lightning, but when I place my iPhone 5s on the connector, it's to short due to my original leather case from Apple! So I have to take it off all the time not very cleaver made.

    It doesn't last

    • Written by from Mt. Lake

I got one right when I got my phone and at first it worked great for my old ihome but after a year and a half it has slowly stopped working so now I have to tilt it in ridiculous poisons just to charged my phone and hope I don't bump it or get a text or it will move then I have to start all over. Then I can't just buy any case because I don't want to take it off every night there was not very much consideration on cases. So in other words just buy new ihomes.

It work but very unreliable, bulky, buggy, and odd the thoughtless design!

    • Written by from Bethlehem

I bought this since I first force to use it to connect to my Audi. I have to either slip out the phone case or completely take it out in order to plug this stupid design adapter in. At the time, I didn't see another overpriced adapter that apple made. It works, however, deserve 2 stars and my >20 years Apple fan is more and more impatient and ready to not be a fan if another stupid move the company make again. Sigh...

Don't buy this if you put the phone in your case, or if your intend use on the move, it not worth the trouble, spent 10 more bucks get another one!.

Bought this so I could play my new gen iPod in my car. I have the 2008 scion tx and it ce with an iPod port with a cable, but ever since apple changed from the 30pin, to the lightning connector, I was not able to play my iPod in my car anymore. (Thanks a lot apple for taking more money out my pocket). Anyways, I bought this and now I can play my iPod in my car..but the sucky part is, this connector doesn't charge my iPod. I thought it would since my 30pin that I connect this adapter to, used to/is able to charge my old iphone(4) and my old gen iPod (the ones before the stupid lightning plug). C'mon apple we pay good, hard earned money for your stuff, at least stop holding out on us. Geez. Anyways, 3.5 stars for this since I can now listen to my iPod in the car.

Lightning connector still too short to work even w/ a slim case, June 2014

    • Written by from Greenwood Village

Needed so that iPod Touch 5th generation (lightning connector) will dock with a CD/alarm/radio (30-pin).

With a super-super-slim case on the iTouch, the iTouch appears to attach, but the lightning connector does not actually go in all the way, so its presence will not register at all, even to charge. But without a case the iTouch connected, synced and transferred the correct time to the clock, at first attempt and subsequently works well - it both charges and also plays through the clock's speakers.

My concern is that since the jerry-rigged contraption now pokes up almost 8 inches vertically out of the dock, the lightning connector protrusion in the adapter is going to bend itself out of commission before too long due to the weight of the iTouch and the inevitable wear and tear of removing and replacing it.

But we have shopped for three months locally, online and even on tv and could not find a CD/alarm/radio/iPlayer with a lightning connector in the dock or that came with a built-in adapter. And as my daughter has a ton of CDs and we don't want to spend hours putting them onto her iTouch, this is the best answer. The one we got came from HSN, btw, in case anyone else is looking for something similar.

I am rather shocked that it's been years now that reviews have been posted here saying that the lightning connector is too short to work when an iProduct has a cover, and yet Apple still hasn't apparently lengthened it. It probably needs about 2-3mm to make it work. Don't they read? Don't they care? Shame on you, Apple.

Works for iPod Nano 7/MBZ. 30-pin

    • Written by from Orange

Just purchased new iPOD Nano 7. I have a 2008 MBZ 350ML that came with iPod 30-pin cable connector. So, had to purchase this adapter in hopes it would work. I even called MBZ to inquire if MBZ makes this device and was told NO, but was advised to buy this device directly from APPLE. Called APPLE and inquired if they knew for sure it would work with my situation and was told "it should", but if not I could definitely return. So far, so good. Seems to work perfectly fine. Have NOT, however, determined if it charges the iPod when connected. Gave 4 stars because I feel it is overpriced.

Rubbish - It will only charge not sync!!!!

    • Written by from Shoreham by Sea

Since the last update this will not work to sync a iPad or iPhone. I just bought one and all it does is honk at you when you try and use it to sync an iPad or iPhone with your Mac!! The internet is full of reports about this and returned products. A total waste of money.

Useless - unless you use your phone without a case

    • Written by from Carlisle

This will only fit an iPhone that is not in a case, so is pretty much useless unless. They ought to redesign it so that it can be at least used with the official apple case.

Also, I would like a black one to use in my car - white looks really unsightly in my car interior.

    Rubbish, expensive piece of plastic

    • Written by from Bristol

Just does not work with any of my 3 devices. My radio alarm, speaker dock and car all do not play music through it. The clock radio will charge the phone but the other two won`t.

Come on its an apple product. It should work out of the box.

Shameful, price and a shameful product, its this sort of things that give apple and its customers a bad name.

    Awesome product!

    • Written by from Pompano Beach

I bought this for my iphone 5c. I have all the accessories for the iphone 4. The item is smaller then I expected but I actually like that more. It fits snugly. It works with the cords I have, and with my logitech speakers. It's secure on the speakers so I do not have to worry about it falling out. The sound quality is great, I do not notice any difference. The best part is it works with my otterbox defender case. I do not have to take the case off like many other reviewers have said. I am very satisfied with this product. I would definately recommend it.

Flimsy and doesn't connect when iphone case on

    • Written by from Chorley

Bought this to use to connect iphone 5c to my cable in my car so music could be played. The lightning part wouldn't connect to my phone until I'd removed the case. This is ridiculous given my case is designed to fit closely to my phone to protect it and it is a faff to keep removing it and putting it back on. Not only is this an inconvenience, but the device is very flimsy and I am concerned it could break easily. I think apple needs a rethink on this product - £25 for this is ridiculous!

Not sure why, but it doesn't charge consistently...

    • Written by from Arabi

I still have my iPhone 4s and love it. But last year I bought the 128GB iPad 4th Gen... I have the charger that came with it. But other lightening chargers don't seem to work. So, I bought the adapter to use my 30-pin chargers if ever in a pinch. I have gone through a few of these... ultimately it worked great when I first bought it. But over time, if I try to charge my iPad 4th gen, it won't charge! For data purposes it works great! But charging... nope. Oh well... should've bought an additional charger. I must admit, I bought 2 chargers on ebay. Not "apple" and they are the same, won't charge but for data purposes they work. I haven't bought anything else from the apple store; worry I'll waste more money... what to do? what to do?????

I brought to use with my Bose player, since it was recommended to me and I was told it would work with my iPhone 5. No such luck. Plays the music, but not very loud and does not charge the phone. Unfortunately I had already thrown the receipt away.

Important to know, DON'T GO CHEAP!

    • Written by from Nashville

This is my third adapter but first one by Apple. DO NO BUY THE CHEAPER ONE! They may or may not work with docking stations. With Apple one, make sure the surface on the docking station is flat ( many are rounded) so it connects properly. If not, it will charge but you can't get audio. For my Bose and Sony docking station, it works great! Also connects to RCA cable adapter for older Bose Radio.

    Disappointed

    • Written by from Dublin

First off, this adapter didn't work with our Bose docking station. Neither did a separate adapter we bought which also had a connection to the mini jack on the iphone. However, it charged my phone which I was happy enough with as I was able to keep an iphone 4 charger with this adapter in work, and the lightning cable at home (because God knows you won't get more than a half day of battery life out of the iphone 5). However, after about a month the charging function of the adapter stopped working as well. Absolutely disappointed and very unhappy with this product. It's not worth buying it.

    Not up to Apple standard

    • Written by from Helensburgh

Why oh why was this not designed to work with the Apple protection case? £25 to break my nails removing the case to use the adapter, this is not good enough Apple. If you start to slip on design why should we stay with you and your products?
