I have bought this conector for my ipod 5 to use it in mi Bose Soundock Portable. It works 5 minutes and never more. Its a shame because i paid 42 dollars in the apple store for this connector and it didn`t work. I want a replacement or my money back!

    Very poor DAC cip inside

    • Written by from Brescia

I have a high end ipod dock. Using the Lightning adapter is causing me big issues. The cip does the work for 10 minutes or so but then stops . I basically cannot use it anymore. The old ipod or iphone were much better.

Useless - Apple what are you going to do !

    • Written by from Camberwell

I wish I had checked out the reviews on this item first. I have just upgraded to iphone 5 and bought the adapter as I was advised it would allow me to use my Accessories from previous version. Does not work, too lose. Bought to use on my Bose Sound Dock and Logitech Sound Dock. Apple should be totally ashamed of this product and for the changeover in the first place. I would never have upgraded if I knew it would make my sound systems useless. I have also bought one for my mum with the Ipad 4 (gift) now embarrassed to give to her. What a waste of money at $35 a pop.

Where is the smart thinking for these smart devices????

Okay... it does the job but...

    • Written by from Cortland

Yes this adapter works for the gen 7 Nano, but the lighting adapter is offset on the Nano and plug is centered on the 30 pin part. So if you are using this to enable the use of your gen 7 on an accessory that's gen 6 or lower it will rather annoying. It will sit crooked on your accessory.

    Extremely POOR item

    • Written by from GRAIN VALLEY

Wasted $30..for nothing more than a charger. Would not work as a adapter for any of my docks. Apple markets itself as a high priced superior product line. If Apple was so concerned about it's "quality" it would provide a easy all purpose adapter for the new "5" items. I am a recent convert to Apple and I am SOOOO disappointed.

    Lightning to 30 pin adaptor

    • Written by from Hilton

What a rip off! Where do Apple get off charging $35 for this? What cheek.Very greedy and exploitative...knowing people have to buy it for older docking stations. My other gripe is that it only comes in white: no good for a black IPod 5 and a black Bose docking station: it looks ridiculous. These items should be free with the product, they are so small and cheap to manufacture. Shame Apple shame!

    Not happy!

    • Written by from Dundalk

I bought this because i wanted to listen to my music on my docking station, as the connection holes are different i needed to buy this, so i did and although it charges my ipod it doesn't play music through the speakers. I am disgusted especially because of the price of it!

Works to allow synchronization using a 30 pin-USB

    • Written by from Cordova

I used this adaptor to allow my iPhone 5 to work with a 30 pin cable. I needed to do this because the original lightning cable is very unreliable. The lightning cable stopped working during the first week of ownership with the new phone.

This adaptor allowed me to use the more reliable 30 pin cable to synchronize with my Macs and PC. It synchronizes with the old cable very well and allows me to use the alternative cable.

Apple must realize that the new lightning cable is of poor quality. I was thinking of the returning the phone. This is a big problem with the phone 5.

    Adapter does not work

    • Written by from Adelaide

I only wish I had heeded the advice of another reviewer who recommended NOT to buy the adapter for docking stations. IT DOES NOT WORK!!! Ripped off Apple!! Why sell something as compatible when it clearly is not.

    Not worth it

    • Written by from weston super mare

This is a big waste of money. Would not work on my car stereo. When put into a docking station it will play music through but will not charge. So its cheaper to buy a 3.5mm cable to play your music

No audio out, doesn't fit through case

    • Written by from Sandy

No audio out on my Griffin iTrip in my car. No audio out on my RCA speaker dock. I have a slim Otterbox case and the adaptor won't fit unless I take the hard shell off. For a company that became famous for sleek, user-friendly design, this is a real clunker.

Thunderbolt to 30 pin adapter no connection

    • Written by from Katy

The adapter is allowing me to charge but that is all. I am unable to connect to iTunes or transfer data from my phone to my computer via the cable?! Not worth the price!

    Adapter is useless

    • Written by from Oakland

Just received this device and applied for return to Apple. Device is essentially useless. Fits so loosely in the iPhone that it does not make contact to sync or charge the phone and almost falls out if you hold the phone vertically. Not characteristic of Apple quality at all... surprised and disappointed.

    Definitely durable!

I have been enjoying this accessory with all of my older iProducts. I forgot it was in my pants pocket and washed/dryed it. I was sure it was ruined. To my surprise it still works like new! Works great and evidently you can clean it with your clothes ;-)

    Audio but doesn't charge

    • Written by from Leigh on Sea

Bought the new Nano with this adapter for my daughter. The Nano ran out of battery as the adapter only allows audio and no charging on her Logic 3 I-station. What a waste of money, Products should be fully compatible, especially a straight forward adapter at hefty cost of £25. It feels like fraud.

It does work with my Denon Ipod dock so I know the adapter is working and the fault is in the design.

    Waste of money

    • Written by from Kew Gardens

I bought one of these to enable me to connect my new iPhone 5 to the 30-pin connector on my Sony clock radio dock. I have a very ordinary snap on case to protect my iPhone. Whoever designed this adapter forgot that most people protect their phones with cases. The lightening pin is much too short to accommodate the case, so it's a $29 piece of useless plastic for me. The cord version works fine, but is a less than elegant solution as I now have to find a way to rest my iPhone on the nightstand instead of it being properly propped up on the dock itself. Very poor design, Apple!

    Great adapter!

    • Written by from Newcastle-under-Lyme

I bought this adapter after deciding not to waste my time or money on buying a replacement lightning cable after my iPad charger broke (poor quality!) and I am delighted with the alternative, the 30 pin chargers are far more reliable than the new models!

    Don't bother

    • Written by from CHESTNUT HILL

I purchased the adapter to use with my Sony Dream Machine (not sure of the model, but it looks like the ICF-CS10iP so that might be it). It charged the device, which was good, but the audio was terrible, and also mono (I could hear the backup singers, but not the lead singer). If I tilted the phone a bit to the left on the adapter, it played in stereo, but it still sounded like garbage (and looked stupid too). Also, as others have mentioned, the phone sits perched on the tiny adapter, which angles slightly backward, with no support, so I worried about damaging the adapter, or much worse, the phone itself. If the adapter actually worked I would have solved that by making a shim out of foam or something, for the phone to lean on. (My next step is to try the corded adapter, which I'll review separately.) On a positive note, however, my iPhone case worked fine with this adapter. I have a Vineyard Vines case that is made by CaseMate and is very slim. The bottom of the case is almost entirely cut away, so all the ports are accessible.
