I have had three power adaptors now and its no good I will be on my 4th time at £65 a time it's crazy. Apple please please do something about it, I love the gear but you are costing me more for something that is just not fit for purpose. I would love to give more of a hight star rating so help us Apple lovers.

Zero stars would be more appropriate

This is the worst Apple product I have ever had. THE WORST. I have had 3 chargers in 3 years. I take care of my things and make sure to treat the cable with care and not yank it out. I also make sure to not twist it. But they still break. What a piece of junk.

    Rubbish

    • Written by

The original one which comes with my macbook broke down in a year, I bought a new one, broke down again in a year. Connection was also bad and unstable, always disconnects when charging. A piece of rubbish which costs a lot. Definitely not recommended. Call yourself very lucky if yours last longer than a year.

    Apple charger bad

    • Written by from INEZ

I purchased an Apple laptop in June of 2010 and the charger has already torn up by April 2011. It broke at the point of where the charger attaches to the computer. i am very disappointed with this charger. I ordered another one at the expensive price of 80.00 and when I got it, it did not even work at all. I had to return it for a third charger. Apple needs to do a recall to replace these free. Mine also emitted sparks once when I tried to attach it to my computer. I am very dissatisfied with this Apple product and its price.

Dear Apple, sort your life out.

    • Written by from Barnstaple

Dear Apple, I have had this charger for a whopping total of 23 hours. The time it actually worked was less than half of this. Yes, that's right. I managed to use this charger ONCE. I try to use it again, and it does not work, therefore not performing it's Primary function, which is to CHARGE a MacBook. Now, have I just paid 50 pounds for a charger? Or something that is identical to charger in looks, but performs about as well as the equivalent size and weight in fecal matter. Actually I think the feces would do a better Job. So, basically what I'm trying to say, Apple, is that I spend 600+ pounds on a Laptop (in which one of it's accessories/necessities cannot be replaced) and you can't even make a reasonably priced charger that actually works, as a replacement. I suggest you make a charger that actually works, in future, and definitely one that supports older generations of MacBook, else someone at Apple will be receiving a Stone Cold Stunner, (I'm not gonna say who, or when for that matter) from Yours Truly. Thank You and Goodnight.

    Frayed Power Adapter Cable

    • Written by from Camden

My macbook air's power adapter cable is cracking up and peeling off like an old toast bread. I've only used it from March 2012 till present after I bought it in December 2012. It a shame I'll have to buy another one for $80, which will give way in no time. APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM. The rubber material is substandard.

    Incredibly poorly designed

    • Written by from Hyattsville

While the "MagSafe" aspect of the adapter is no admittedly a great idea, the wire connections to the rectifier and computer connection are flimsy and pathetic. I'm gone through three adapters and will be going generic now, if only to pay less. Seems like a safe bet, since the quality can't get too much worse...

    Another Dead Magsafe

    • Written by from Duxbury

If I could give zero stars I would, but I was required to give 1 star to get this posted. I am about to head to the Apple Store and buy a THIRD magsafe for my son's macbook that we purchased for him in August 2011. The first one lasted for 7 months. It split at the point where the wire meets the magnetic pin and stopped working. The second one died after only 3 months. So that's $240 spent on chargers and the computer isn't even a year old. Unacceptable Apple. What a disgrace.

I had "T" MagSafe, they stopped working so I bought "L" MagSafe. Now even these are not working. I have lost my receipt and Apple wont replace it. It is so disappointing. Won't be buying Macbook again.

They always fail after one year of ownership.

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I've owned Apple portables since the PowerBook 100; I have had nothing but problems with the latest models, with the failure of the MagSafe power adapters being the biggest problem to date.

I don't know what it is with the MagSafe power adapters, but they always fail catastrophically. My first one, the original design, frayed like all of them, and the replacement did the same. When the redesigned aluminum MagSafe power adapters came out, I thought the design had finally been perfected. Wrong. My current MagSafe power adapter charges only when it wants to and quickly gets very hot to the touch, to the point where touching it with my fingers is uncomfortable.

I have seen this problem once before, on a unibody white MacBook that I used at work. We had to replace that adapter after less than six months of service.

The MagSafe connector is remarkable in theory, but in practice, these power adapters bring me nothing but headache. I wish there would be some sort of update or better quality control measures because having to buy a new one every 13-15 months is a bit absurd. I'm really gentle with my equipment, my laptop hardly ever leaves the house and is used mainly on a desk or table. I have no idea why these continuously fail on me.

    Poor Quality Power Adapter

    • Written by from Edison

I got my new MacBook Pro, three months back. My Apple 60W MagSafe Power charger stopped working. Its disappointing, when a premium priced product from Apple has such poor quality product. I wish my other apple products don't act the same way.....

    Apple should be ashamed

    • Written by from Downey

With all the great service provided at the Apple Store, it is hard to believe that Apple would not only sell such a shoddy product, but more important, not admit their poor design and offer all of us customers a break in price to replace the adapter. An $80 adapter---being replaced MORE than once in the computer's lifetime????
---THAT is disgraceful!!! Shame on you Apple.....

    Design flaws

    • Written by from houston

I have the white 13.3 inch macbook( late 2009) for about two years now. At first I thought, that this charger was the best charger I had ever seen for a laptop. But recently. It's being a real pain to me, when I plug it in while i'm using my macbook, the temperature of the connector reaches 50 degrees celsius which is pretty nasty if you happen to touch it. And the connector has also become loose which makes my mac constantly alternate between battery and ac mode which is pretty irritating, there was also another incident where I had received a major shock whilst going to rest the laptop on my knees. Is really what a MagSafe power adaptor is? Well so much for safety then, hope I don't have to have my mac catch on fire.

    rubbish

The same as everyone else! Bought computer 8months ago...charger broken already. I am travelling in Asia at the moment, and not having a computer is really annoying, and $79 for a new charger is more than I spend on rent and food for a whole week! Shape up apple!

Less Than 6 months and simply stop working

    • Written by from Fareham

A very poor product, no damage of any kind and the product simply stopped working. I will be taking it back to the store and asking for a replacement, why not simply fix what is putting a bad spin on a great product the Macbook Pro.

    Horrible Product

    • Written by from Center Moriches

The only people rating this product above a one star must be Apple employees or share holders. This product is horrible. I'm on third one in 8 months! On the first one the magsafe end fell off, the second just stopped working. Now on the third one and the end is coming lose after only 3 weeks! I only use it in my house!

How can Apple charge $80 for this product when you can by Apple TV for $99?

    Replaceable You

    • Written by from BURRADOO

Ever since my beloved aluminum Powerbook, I've been fighting with the Incredible Breaking Cord on these things. The wire gets broken right below where it inserts into the computer. THERE IS A FIX. I wrap red electrical tape several times around the vulnerable part. The tape cushions and protects the wire. I've never had one of them break since.

Now there is a new design--and it looks as though Apple have actually been trying to fix the problem. But I think the new design is as vulnerable to breakage as the old one--and harder to protect with tape. But what I don't get is why they don't just accept the inevitable and design the adapter in such a way that the cord from the adapter can be unplugged and replaced--at a fraction of the cost of replacing the whole darn assembly. Could it be that Apple makes more money out of these accessories than out of the computer itself. . . .?

    I expected better.

    • Written by from Rockholds

I had to order a new one after a year of use. The charger started not working correctly after about 9 months. Depending on the orientation of the cable, it would charge for a while but eventually got to the point where no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to work. I expected better of you Apple.

    Broke after 6 months

    • Written by from Newberg

Mine broke after only 6 months. First it stopped charging. I had to move the cable around to get it to work. Then it just broke. I am stuck out of the country with no working adapter, no way to take it in for warranty and probably a couple weeks to get another. I wish they had the old power supply so I could use my iphone/ipod adapter.
