    Quality is utter disappointment

    • Written by from Bayside

There should be free replacements offered for these adapters but I just went to the apple store and they said I shouldn't have waited til the cable frayed to come in. NOBODY has time to be checking if their cord is intact every time they use their laptop. And quite frankly, the cord suddenly frayed one day without any provocation. APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS

Yet another failed charger and Apple product shut down

    • Written by from Poulton le fylde

Yet another Charger less than 18 months stopped working. Now sharing one charger with three laptops. Why should I buy another given the lack of reliability ?

Also I have a failed power book and one dead iMac This is getting very expensive ( products don't last much beyond 4 years )

Not to mention I phones that last 12 to 18 months before home button fatigue or software crashes and freezes.

Beautiful products that age badly !

Time apple started offering replacement packages for loyal but disappointed customers

I have had my Macbook Pro since 2011 and I love it dearly. My sister has had her Macbook Pro since 2009. We love everything about it except for the charger. Together I would have to say that we have gone through at least 10 maybe even more chargers due to the fact that the wires come exposed constantly. We try to use them as long as possible, but once they start to spark, we are out. I don't understand.

Dear Apple: This charger and I don't get along. Make it play nice. Thanks.

    • Written by from Portland

Allow me join the ranks of those complaining about Apple going from a highly functional MagSafe Version1 to this charger. The magnetic part that connects to your computer constantly falls off. The plug that goes into the wall (at least when using the extension) randomly starts feeling neglected and refuses to charge your MacBook unless you give it some attention - in other words you have to wiggle the plug, switch outlets, unplug and plug back in, buy it dinner, etc. If you, like me, assume that simply plugging in both ends of the charger will result in charging, think again. You also need to ask very nicely, be patient, and catch the charger on a good day.

I'm not really writing this review to dissuade customers from buying the product, since you don't have any alternative. Hopefully though, our friends in Cupertino will notice that this charger is inundated with one-star reviews and perhaps something's wrong...

    Total Rip off

    • Written by from Bakersfield

I so thought I was the only person disgusted by the MagSafe chargers. "Horrible quality" just seems too nice to say. Since I began using Apple computers I can't count how many chargers I have bought. I feel totally ripped off. For the amount of money their loyal customers spend toward Apple products, You would think they would use some of that money to upgrade the quality of their chargers. Smh, I feel totally cheated. They received this 1 star from me by default.

    Terrible Charger!!!

    • Written by from Sarasota

Wish I could this a ZERO! The charger stinks! I have to spend 80 dollars all because it has the apple logo on it? They need to look into a better way of designing this! because it is awful and flimsy! Should be more durable since it is a something that is carried around everyday for me! I'm disappointed apple....you let me down again!

    Good Design, poor manufacturing..

    • Written by from Sevierville

The idea and design of this product is way better than anything in the PC world and goes a long way to save the laptop from in advertent harm. Unfortunately it is the manufacturing that has caused it the issues. I believe that if Apple continues to turn back to US production they may be able to remedy issues like this. For those young college students who would review this product, you should have more experience in Apple and for that matter computer products before making negative comments regarding this or any other such hardware.

    Apple's Weakest Link

    • Written by from Nashville

Well, yet another one of these has died on me. This is the one piece of Apple's technology that makes me consider jumping ship for another computer manufacturer for my notebook. You make the best built pro laptops, start backing that up with a robust power supply. I'm taking time while my battery dies to write this review, it's that important for me to express my displeasure in this piece of hardware.

    Badly-designed junk

    • Written by from Cincinnati

I have been a long-time Apple customer. I have always been more than happy with the products I have purchased from Apple, with the exception of this charger. I have had two so far and now need a third. The last one only lasted about a year. The rubber sheathing has broken apart right past the magnetic connection point and the wiring has become frayed on both of the first two chargers. I now have to replace this $80 fire hazard, AGAIN. The worst part is that this is obviously a known design flaw (see the other 1,500+ negative reviews on this site), yet Apple hasn't rectified the problem with a better design or at the very least a more stomach-able price for replacement. Shameful for a company of their size and means.

On 5th charger maybe soon the 6th.

    • Written by from sidcup

As the title says I've had to change my charger too many times. I thought when they changed the design I would have better luck with the charger but no this one too is breaking near the head. Why should I have to change them so often. I had a Viao for 10 years and I've never had to change the charger. When will apple fix this problem or will they ever?

1 star because you can't do zero stars

    • Written by from Louisville

I'm not about to drop another 80 dollars on a 4th power cord, the last one I only used 3 times. I'm still paying off the 3 grand for the laptop itself. Also, this BS of needing to wipe my ipod to format from mac to pc, really not happy having two now useless apple products.

no stars should be an option.

    • Written by from Gardnerville

Seriously, Apple? With as many times as I've had to replace a charger, I could have bought a new macbook with that money instead. Get your sh|t together and fix this product. At the time of this review being written, you have 89% of people giving this a less than satisfactory rating, 80% of that being only one star. In my opinion, even that is generous as a no star option would be more adequate.
That means 11% of people find this product satisfactory or better. 11%...that is a miserable F.

So happy I read these reviews today. My cord suddenly stopped working about a week or so ago. After looking it up and finding out how much the replacement cost, I hemmed and hawed and didn't immediately purchase. Well the reality finally hit me that 1) I didn't want to take the chance with a cheap knock off and 2) I can't live very long without my Macbook. So I decided to bite the bullet and went out to the Apple store on my lunch break today. I decided to peruse the online reviews before doing so and found a dated review that advised the user to just push on the springy pins inside the narrow oblong magnetic connector for a quick fix. I wasn't sure if the fix would work for me (everything was at home) so I went anyway and sprang for the replacement. Lo and behold, after getting home tonight I gently and easily pushed on the pins a couple of times, using a straightened paper clip (BE SURE TO UNPLUG EVERYTHiNG FIRST!!) and my Macbook started charging!!!

Returning the plug tomorrow for my cash! Hope it solves the problem for all of you who were just like me...distressed, desperate and upset about a short lived, expensive to replace plug. Good luck!!

    Two frayed adapters

    • Written by from Allston

It seems that I, as well as many other customers, have experienced the same problem with the MagSafe Power Adapter. I have had two separate Power Adapters fray at the point of connection to the adapter. This is despite taking proper precautions and coiling the cord around the designated tabs. It would be helpful if this problem could be fixed, as several customers are reporting this problem and the replacement adapters are quite expensive.
