I've been using this mouse for about a week now, roughly two hours per day. I have since been noticing some discomfort in my hand. If this mouse had not come packaged with the computer I probably would not be using it. Apple needs to produce a larger version, one that is taller as well as wider, that fills the palm of a larger hand. Technology wise, it's very good.

This is truly a Magic Moue. It eats batteries like a mouse eats cheese. When it is time to change the batteries (often) it is a difficult task.

the mouse works well as a touch mouse and the features are great too but it doesn't glide very well it's more like dragging it across my desk tried several mouse pads and still feels like dragging! The problem is the two bars underneath the mouse that are the legs if you will have way to much contact with the surface and that causes drag. most mice have small dots for it to glide well less contact makes it glide not drag. That is my only problem with the magic mouse. I have found a surface to get it to glide better it's a teflon cookie sheet liner cut it down to the size I wanted and it was only a few bucks. I also found a good app. MagicPrefs is an application for OSX which aims to improve the functionality and configuration options of the Apple Magic Mouse.

Apple's Magic Mouse is a great idea, but it needs improvement:
1. It's WAY too heavy.
2. It's WAY too noisy and rough. Change the rails to a continuous Teflon ring, as with the Apple Mouse. It's MUCH smoother and virtually silent. A continuous ring is more sturdy and more difficult to dislodge. Feet always pop off.
3. Its trigger (clicking) mechanism is WAY too heavy. The trigger mechanism requires way too much force/action to activate. I'd like to see 1) a "hair trigger," and 2) add the "tapping" functions included with Apple's Magic Trackpad.
4. Add a wired model. Some of us DON'T want wireless mice and keyboards! I prefer wired mice and keyboards because they're more reliable -- they NEVER drop out -- and use fewer system resources. Apple needs to employ the KISS Principle: KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID!

Bluetooth and 802.11b/n wireless use the same radio frequencies, so unfortunately the trackpad becomes very unreliable when you are heavily utilizing a 2.4GHz wifi network.

The problem is slight when receiving large amounts of data (e.g. streamed video) because the interfering transmitter (the Wifi access point) isn't necessarily nearby; but when sending large amounts of data (e.g., wifi Time Capsule backups) the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad both become unusably laggy and jumpy, because the interfering transmitter (your Mac) is right next to it. The effect is the worst in clamshell mode.

I was very disappointed to be forced to run wired ethernet to my desk in order to use my Magic devices with Time Machine over Wifi enabled.

this is a nice mouse and I use it with my macbook pro laptop. Only thing..the battery dies every 3 weeks. I guess to save power you have to turn it completely off. LOL.

Pros, the feels of the surface is good and buttons and scrolling work well. The weight is heavier than the usual corded mouse but I like my mice a little on the heavy side anyway.

Cons, I have big hands and it is too flat for me and my hand gets uncomfortable after a while. Not a game mouse but OK. Price is high.

This mouse is very stylish. It looks great sitting on your desktop. It is very cool how it mimics the track pad, but that's not very functional for a productive mouse.

First of all, even those this mouse is stylish, that's one of its biggest faults. It's so thin and low profile that it is difficult to use. For instance, when you are dragging a window around a large space, you need to hold down a button and drag. After a while, you run out of space on your mouse pad (or even desk) to move your mouse while you are dragging and this forces everyone to pick up their mouse while continuing to depress the button to maintain grip of the window that you are dragging. It is VERY difficult to do this with this mouse. It is tough to grip and given that the entire mouse is sort of a big button, it is tough to keep it depressed while picking it up. Many times I have lost the "grip" on the window or icon during this. Just a minor annoyance, but still...

Also, the thin design is not ergonomic at all. You will notice that if you use your mouse for most of the day doing drag-n-drop stuff, your hand will start to hurt a bit. This is not good. Can you say quick carpal tunnel setin?

Also, this mouse basically mimics two mouse buttons and scroll. It also throws in the extra effect of swiping to go back and forth within your browser/finder. There is no other functionality. For instance, the trackpad on a MacBook lets you use 3 fingers and swipe down and get Expose of all Windows. Not on this mouse.. This, to me, is a deal breaker. I have been using a Microsoft mouse that has the two standard buttons, scroll wheel and a button on the left and right. I have assigned Expose to the button on the left. So if I'm mousing around and need to get a view of all windows open, I click the left button and I'm there. With this "Magic Mouse", I have to break that workflow and go to the keyboard, hit a button for Expose, go back to the mouse and select my window. This may be minor to some people, but again, if you are a productive user, mapping buttons on your mouse to Expose really is a big time saver and keeps you feeling productive. Anything that makes you break your concentration and makes you stop and think breaks your work flow. Given that all modern mice have multiple buttons, it was a really bad idea to leave the ability to have multiple buttons off of the "Magic Mouse".

Again, it's very stylish and sexy. I'll give it that. But that's doesn't mean it's practical. A lot of people tend to bash Apple and say that all of their products are like this... I will always disagree. I'm *extremely* productive on a Mac and have been for years. However, this mouse definitely falls into that stereotype.

If you are just an average user that uses iTunes, browses the internet and checks their e-mail, this mouse is just fine. However, if you are a productive user and use your Mac to do work and you have a lot of applications open at all times and you dig the idea of mapping buttons to the special Mac OS X features such as Expose, try this mouse out before you buy it. It will probably not suit your productive needs.

This mouse can't be used with apps which require a 3-button mouse. I use several 3D graphics software packages which simply cannot operate without the middle button -- there are some functions you just can't invoke.

I found a third-party app which can do a middle button by sensing taps to the central area of the mouse, but it doesn't work very well...

So... avoid if you need the third button...

Other than that, it is pretty slick. If Apple added middle-button support, I'd be happy with it.

bluetooth connection with mac pro is spotty. this mouse will drive you nuts when paired with mac pro...fine with other macs. problem has to be fixed with a bluetooth usb dongle. one less usb port. ugh!
