    best mouse ever

    I think that this is the best mouse Apple has ever made. The magic mouse is so ergonomically wrong. If they find a way to combine the shape of the Mighty Mouse with the functions of a Magic Mouse they will have a big winner

    Ball Does Not Work After a Few Months

    I have gone through two of these. Works great out of the box but after a few months, the track ball only seems to work in one direction (usually up). Not at all happy with this product, apple should discontinue and have only the Bluetooth/wireless mouse available for purchase.

    GREAT MOUSE

    I've never had a problem with this mouse that a little turning it over and rolling the ball around couldn't fix. It's very comfortable for every day 8+ hour use, and serves it's purpose quite well. I couldn't go back to a standard mouse after using this one, but I did turn off the side buttons, as they were too easily pressed. If you're after a great mouse that won't give you wrist pain, look no further.

    Worst Mouse Ever

    The scroll ball gets dirty and fails to work. The mouse is not designed to be taken apart to be cleaned. The left and right buttons don't respond properly.

    DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT!!!!

    Absolutely Horrible

    So during the summer of 2009 my scrollbar stopped working...But ijust worked with it cuz im 13 and cant afford a 50 dollar mouse...Then today the bottom ring snaps off.....So I had to patch it together with tape beause im trying to get a video camera and cant buy a 70 dollar trackpad....

    Do Not Buy This Mouse

    Has this product been shelved yet? It's quite telling when Apple employees even tell me not to buy it. The big problem, as you've read, is the scroll wheel. Any microscopic debris that gets into the wheel renders it ineffective. And worthless as a mouse. Right now it's sitting on my shelf as I used an old PC mouse until I got the Magic Mouse. Spend the extra money for that - yeah, it has battery life problems but it's at least functional.

    Horrible

    I had to jump through hoops to get Apple to replace the first one. The scroll kept getting clogged. You cannot open it to clean it like every other mouse. I had to go down to my closest Apple store for a replacement (30 miles away)...then the second one did the same thing in a matter of 2 months. I love Apple products, but this mouse sx big time. what are they thinking?

    scrolling problems

    I am on my 2nd mouse in 1 1/2 yr of having my computer. The scroll button does not always work. There is no making sense out of when it will decide to work or not.

    Apple Mouse

    In the regular Apple mouse, the ball seems to refuse to scroll down after a period of usage.
    Solution: Dip a Q-tip in alcohol and work over the ball in all directions, let dry and plug 'er back in. Q-tip should not be dripping wet.
    Other than the above problem, the mouse design and system is my favourite after 20 or so years of mouse relationships.

    Better than the Magic Mouse. Better than the Magic Trackpad.

    Am I the only person who really likes this mouse?

    I understand that there are some trackball issues, but if you are a clean person and work in a clean office, then dirt and grime will not build up inside the trackball area, and if it does it can be cleaned with an alcohol prep pad easily.

    Everything else about this mouse is amazing, especially the way it works with Exposé & Spaces. The "center mouse button, right-click button, and side squeeze buttons" are features not available on the Magic Trackpad. Those features make it more powerful. It is also much easier to control and more versatile than the Magic Trackpad in terms of navigating the Mac OS.

    I own the Magic Trackpad, and it sits on the corner of my desk unused, unless I want to do mindless web browsing for fun.

    The Apple Mouse is for serious work and productivity and won't let you down. It's a classic.

    Scroll Wheel Fail

    The design and functionality of this mouse are fine, but it is constructed of cheaply-made parts. I have gone through several of these and in each one the scroll wheel degrades and ends up spinning uselessly after only a few months. This forces me to click and drag, which doesn't sound like a huge inconvenience but it is - it interrupts flow and impacts productivity. In addition to this mouse I also have a Wacom tablet, and frequently end up using the tablet instead of the mouse due to the frustration experienced with this item.

    This mac device is NOT dependable after three months of use. The scroll ball does NOT operate properly. For a company of Brand Image and Quality it is surprising that this one necessary piece for a home computer fails.

    Short-Lived Romance

    I've had 8 of these mice. They start off as the answer to all your dreams. The little 360-degree roller ball has you thinking life is good. (And I LOVE the smooth one-big-button surface.) Then the little ball quits working. Then you can't use the mouse at all. So you take it to the Apple store and the Genius Bar guys try to clean the ball and it works better for another week or so, then you're back at the store with the same tale. The staff replaces the mouse for free. Then the entire cycle starts over. Then you have to buy the mice yourself. Basically, once the ball gets dirty (and it always does), the $50 mouse dies.

    Perhaps, like me, you then decide to try the Magic Mouse. You're free of the dirty-roller-ball problem, but that Magic Mouse is not good. You put in MUCH effort to hit your target. It's VERY hard to be precise -- and the low profile does not make your hand muscles happy.

    My advice: Give up on Apple mice and look elsewhere.

    Scroll ball is destined to die on you quickly

    This is a fantastically designed mouse. Potentially, this mouse operates like a dream. I purchased the magic mouse and got rid of it because my macpro had to be within 20 inches for it to work properly so I went back to this mouse. It worked for a short time until the ball got dirty. Then I had about a month of intermittent function. After that month the mouse was useless so I ponies up the $50 for another one. Now THIS ONE is going bad on me. I wouldn't be so upset it's just $50 is no joke! That's alot of money for a freaking mouse Apple. And I do not keep a dirty workplace. REGULAR wear gives this mouse a 1 year maximum shelf life. Terrible.

    The scroll ball is intermittent at best. It often only works in one direction and sometimes not at all. i'd get a magic mouse if it came in a wired version, but the one i have on my other computer has its batteries die every few months, often just when you don't have any spares on hand.

    I find this mouse really cute and stylish but this scroll bar gets dirty and does not work properly way too often. It doesn't get messed up entirely, but it requires more care than other mice I've used.

    Apple Mouse cord too short among other things

    i thought that i would revisit the apple mouse after 5 years. nothing has changed!
    i had the wireless first and that was horrible..
    now the cord on the non-wireless is so short - it doesn't reach around to the right side of my macbook? what moron designed this?
    i mean really - didn't you test the length?
    i want my money back!
