This mic sounds similar to an AKG C1000S condenser from my experiences!! AMAZING !!! The pre-amp is EXCELLENT !! Things I HAVE recored so far.. Acoustic guitar, medium distance guitar cab (in the green away from pressure source manages great!), singing, and voice. Recording sounds better then real life, (on a phone). Has a studio robust sound to it, (see what I am comparing it to). The (green, yellow, red) lights are helpful (not a gimmick, the gain is very sensitive and fine-tunable); using placement theory with-out listen to the source with head phones, have quickly gotten clarity at levels that my assumptions were correct. Best complementary piece to my iPhone 4s for live sound. . ... & is now a staple with USB (included) on my Mac. !! I really like that it's mono. MiC delivers great audio. Set at a fair price .. as I was thinking hummmm. .. this is expensive.. but to this mic-hound.. in comparison to other condenser microphones, hold it's own and is priced well. Took me about one min. after hooking it up, .. starts up when recording is active, playback when done.. felt satisfied with my purchase immediately.

This is absolutely the best portable recording solution I've found. I bought it for doing voice over auditions at home. The sound is so warm and crystal clear. My favorite thing is being able to record on my iPad without having to worry about isolating a computer fan. It's triple the quality and performance than using my PC and any other USB mic or interface and studio mic.

Don't let the size fool you, Apogee interfaces are startlingly clear and pristine, and so is this microphone. If you have too much noise in your recordings, try turning off your refrigerator. This, with an iPad or iPhone, is the quietest portable microphone set-up I have ever used. And it is built like a classic piece of audio gear. Tiny, but beefy, with no visible garbage materials in the construction.

Okay, in the end, a mic this small cannot compete with (plug in your favourite studio mic) BUT how many of those mics can you take for a hike, a long mountain bike ride, and get the performances the Apogee allows you to...None of them.

I run my own project studio with several high quality condenser microphones, a UA twinfinity Preamp, and an Apogee Duet, and I have had more fun and creativity in the last few months in iOS because of inventive, quality products like the Apogee Mic.

Easy to use, great quality. I had it up and running as soon as I got it home. It takes a bit of tweaking to get the right combination of gain on the mic and input level set. It works great with Multitrack on my iPhone. One thing I would like to see is a clearly readable level marking on the gain knob. That way, multiple users with different needs can set it up easily without having to guess where the slider ought to be. And a more readily visible level meter. As a trumpet player, my bell is pointed right at the mic, so I can't tell how much gain is enough or too much until I listen after the fact. Works well with Logic studio as well.

So I just got this product recently and it really does sound great. It is a very high quality mic. My only problem with it is that it is very inconveniently sized. I don't mind the size of the actual mic itself. It is cute and compact. But the wire that connects it to the iPad is very short. Yes, there is a much longer one available, but it is not cheap. If you're like me and bought this with your babysitting money, you may not want to pay $30 for a longer wire. The little tripod that comes with it is very small, and if you want to attach the mic to a larger stand, you have to buy a $40 stand adapter thing off the Apogee website. So, basically, if you want to get the most out of this product, you will end up paying alot more than $200.

I bought this and you have to be sure you know what you're getting into. This is a USB mic, it still catches tons of background noise in my opinion. I was running through Garage Band. I am having much better luck with an interface and a real mic recording into the iPad. This is not worth $200.00

After considerable research of USB microphones I ordered an Apogee MiC - In short I am delighted.

Easy set-up - I plugged it in and I was underway! I use GarageBand and the MiC has added an outstanding, accurate dynamic to my recordings. Correct line levels are achieved with the gain adjustment dial on the side of the unit. The manual also provides handy tips for positioning the MiC for best results.

    Well done Apogee!!
