First one would not take a charge, took it back to store next day and exchanged. Used it once or twice a month since then, saved me from a flat phone when leaving work, when forgetting to turn wall charger on, saved a colleague from a 1 hour train journey with a flat phone. Also used it to charge other things including iPod, iPad, a Garmin forerunner, a bluetooth headset and a Garmin bike computer. Now an essential thing to carry. Even charged it up in the car as always have micro USB cable with me, might buy the micro USB to lightening adaptor and carry one less cable.

Attractive and well-built USB backup battery. With a capacity of 4000 mAh, it will buy some time, but modern smartphones take more than 1000 mAh per charge, so don't expect miracles.

Even my ancient iPod 30GB is willing to charge from it, and that device is finicky with chargers.

Note: This is an external power brick. It connects to any compatible device using a USB cable. There was a prior review talking about cases, volume and shutter buttons, but that was a different product entirely.

My 2nd (and last) Mophie. The first (for iPhone 3S) worked 2 months then started draining the iPhone battery, actually shortening battery life. Heard it had improved, so bought the red one for my new iPhone 4S. I found:

--Nice-looking, liked the way I could switch on Mophie power or battery-only.

--It's so big it barely fit the purse pocket, and too big for my hands. It’s also slippery, which makes it more likely to be dropped.

--The hardshell case rises above the side buttons, making them harder to reach. Even w/small fingers, I have trouble accessing the shutter button or volume controls.

--It needs a microUSB connector, which means carrying TWO chargers instead of one.

--Accessing the iPhone connector requires that you remove the bottom of the case. I use the connector 3-4 times/day and noticed that the friction clamps got looser and looser. I worried that eventually they’d get so loose the bottom of the case would come off on its own.

--It slipped out of my hands and dropped about 2 ft to a wooden desk surface two weeks after purchase. The short drop caused an amazing amount of damage: The case bottom’s plastic completely cracked off one side, leaving only the electronics and a metallic strip hanging loose. Unless I’m holding the case bottom on (or tape it to the top of the case), it’s too loose to make the connection. Of course, if I tape it or glue it on, I can’t easily access the iPhone connector.

--The warranty, according to the website, doesn’t cover breakage, so I’m pretty much out of luck. This case is far too fragile to justify $80 and I’m not buying it (ever) again.

The Morphie Juice Pack is worth its weight in gold for charging my iPad and iPhone when travelling as it solves the dilemma of choosing which of your devices to charge when they are both running low on power and you have only 1 conventional power supply available to you. I have not yet worked out its charging capacity in real terms but it comfortably managed to charge both devices from virtually flat to full and still indicated 2 of the 4 capacity LED's.
The design is simple, practical and beautiful, I don't know what the material is but it feels tactile in your hand and is non slip. The charger fits into a jacket pocket easily and is not heavy.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who travels or uses multiple apple devices heavily without easy access to main supply

I bought it for my trip to Italy and it was a waste of money, after fully charging it and plugged it in to my ipad, it over heated right away and only charged from 17% to 33% and it was completely drained.

Nice looking product, but horrible quality!!

The feel of this product is great, the features are great. The packaging was terrible and hard to get the product out but that is a one time thing.
Charging now so more info when I've used it but the overall size, soft sides, large capacity and nice status indicator are all very well designed and will be very useful.
