I'm taking my MacBook to Argentina where they have 220 wat. Do I need a power converter or transformer?

Best AnswerNo. I just took mine to England where they also have 220s. There is a converter built in to the adapter already. You just need the right plug to snap on to the front.

No. If you run some demanding software, it might not charge the laptop while you're using it heavily, but otherwise, it works fine with 60W adapters.

I bought my macbook pro 13 inch brand new the summer of 2011 will this charger work on my computer? or is this charger for the new macbook pro (2012)
- Asked by Amanda B from Ridgewood

Best Answer45W - MacBook Airs 11 & 13
60W - 13" MacBook Pro (can also use for airs)
85W - 15" (&17") MacBook Pro (can also use for 13" & Airs)
NB. you can use a higher W than was supplied but do not use a lower W. The 2012 MacBook Airs & Retina MBP's use Mac safe 2
So for the MBP 13" summer 2011 that you purchased this would require the 60W.- Answered by Richard N

I want to use my mac book 13 in England and |Ireland, do a need just an adapter plug, or do i need a converter
- Asked by F N H from Oakland
- 26/05/2010
- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerYou will not need to use a converter, your MagSafe Power Adapter that came with your laptop will automatically regulate the 230-240 volt power that is common in the UK and throughout Europe. You will however need an adapter that will allow you to plug in your US three prong grounded plug into the standard UK 2 prong outlet. Always remember to plug the Apple MagSafe Power Adapter into the UK outlet prior to connecting it to your computer. It’s just a "good practice" safe guard against any power spikes before connecting it to your computer. I have lived in Europe, the Middle East and Asia for fir the last 5 years and have never had an issue when using the standard macbook pro power cord with the appropriate plug adapter for that region.

Best AnswerLIMITED WARRANTY – APPLE ACCESSORY: "Your APPLE hardware product is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase."
After buying several power power adapters for my MacBook Pro over the last three years, an Apple Store employee told us about the one year warranty and exchanged our defective MagSafe 85 Watts free of charge--just need receipt and product box. From Macworld Mag 2006:
If you hold the two power supplies side by side, you’ll notice that the MacBook Pro’s is larger. That’s because the MacBook Pro uses an 85-watt power supply, while the MacBook uses a 60-watt power supply. Apple says you can use the more powerful, 85-watt power supply with a MacBook without any problems, and that in 80 percent to 90 percent of situations, you can use the MacBook’s power supply with the more-demanding MacBook Pro as well. If you’re really taxing the MacBook Pro’s processor with some heavy-duty work, the MacBook’s adapter will still be able to power the MacBook Pro—but it may not have any power left over to charge its battery.
so, yes, contrary to what everyone else has said, you can.- Answered by Wendy S from Montgomery Village

Best AnswerAny of the Macbook adapters, including the MacBook Air will run on any other Macbook model if you're only charging it when off or in sleep mode. The adapters are rated to handle the unit running the drive, display and processors under load. In a pinch you can use the 45 watt 'Air model to run the 85W 'Pro BUT I wouldn't recommend you run it that way except to quickly check your email, etc. If you HAVE to use the 45W or 60W to charge the battery in an 85W model, shut the laptop down, plug it in to charge and THEN run the laptop in the battery without the charger connected I have all of these models and have had to do this on occasion.

need charger for macbook 10.4.11 version about 4 years old. what one do i get?
- Asked by Robyn J from North Haven
- 30/09/2010

Best AnswerThe version number you have given is for the Operating System, which is software, not hardware. Chargers are dependent on hardware requirements.
However, assuming that you have a White MacBook 13-inch, the 60W Charger will work fine, as the MacBook was one of the first to adopt the MagSafe power connector.- Answered by Pawel S

Will this charger work with a 15" macbook pro with retina display?
- Asked by Dylan T from Brisbane
- 3/09/2012
- Flag as inappropriate
Best Answerno this will not work with the 15" macbook pro with retina display because the 15" macbook pro with retina display uses more power so it requires a more powerful charger and also because the charging head is different on the charger for the 15" macbook pro with retina display since the body became thinner

Grounding my macbook air
When I got my macbook air I noticed that you can have an ungrounded plug adapter inserted into the brick or have a cord with a grounded plug inserted. What are the differences in using these different plugs?
- Asked by Angela K from Dartmouth
- 4/09/2012
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerOne is grounded and the other is ungrounded as you mentioned. I find that it is very important to use the three prong/grounded plug when ever you can, just because it is safer. The two prong is great for when traveling since you don't need to carry an extra 3 foot cable with you. Others and I have also found that the MacBooks heat up less when using the grounded cable.
The only real difference is convenience for the consumer.
