AnswerYES - using one now as trackballs and mice onlu need the low power USB connection of around 100mA - BUT this only applies if the keyboard is direct to the mac and NOT via an unpowered hub...

Answer
There is no need, it is powered by the computer it is plugged into via USB cable. It is not wireless and therefore needs no power, so a power off key is unneeded. As for how the old Apple Keyboards controlled the Mac's power, they no longer do that.

What will happen if I try to use this keyboard with OS 10.2.8? Is it just that certain features will not work, or would it be totally inoperable?
I have OS 10.5.8, but I am keeping a second start-up disk for OS 10.2.8 for Classic applications essential to me.

Answerwith your 10.5.8 you should be fine. buttt with 10.2.8 you cant use it due to incompatiblility with certain features.

AnswerNot this particular model as it uses a standard USB connector, there is nowhere to plug it in =)

Answer
Yes you can, but it's a pain to use. It keeps disconnecting if you don't use it for a few minutes. Then you have to wait for it to connect again. Apple really messed up by eliminating the 10 key pad from the standard key pad.
