This depends on (1) the length and (2) the "bitrate" of the songs.
The "bitrate" (my spellcheck keeps trying to change it to "nitrate") is the sound quality of the song. If you look at your music library in iTunes, you'll see that "Bit Rate" is one of the columns; this lists the bitrate of each of your songs.
Bitrate is measured in kbps. The "standard" bitrate when I was a lad was 128 kbps, but now the songs that you buy & download from Apple are 256 kbps. Basically, the higher the bitrate, the better the sound quality - up to 1411 kbps, which is uncompressed, lossless "wav" audio. (Try listening to songs of different bitrates on good headphones, and you'll see what I mean.)
A basic rule of thumb: 1 minute of audio at 128 kbps is roughly 1 MB. So, since 256 kbps is double the nitrate, 1 minute of audio at 256 kbps is roughly 2 MB. And 4 minutes of audio at 256 kbps is roughly 8 MB.
So: say that the average bitrate of your songs is 256 kbps, and the average length is 4 minutes. That means that you'll be able to fit 2,000 songs (8*2000=16,000). If the average bitrate is 128kbps and the average length is 4 minutes, you'll be able to fit 4,000 songs.
**Note that if you click on your iPod in iTunes, and then click on the "summary" tab, there's a checkbox that allows you to "convert higher bit rate songs to X kbps." This doesn't affect the bitrate of songs on your computer - what it does is to convert songs to a maximum bitrate on your iPod. This allows you to store more music on your iPod - but at the cost of lower sound quality.- Answered by Adrian W from Hadley

Does the iPod 5th generation come with flash?
- Asked by Jenny M from Mount Forest

Best Answer"Flash" is ambiguous. Assuming that by "5th Generation", you mean the Touch,
* The iPod Touch has flash memory. (This is what it uses to store music, video, apps, and firmware.)
* The iPod Touch has a LED flash, for providing extra light when you are taking photos. This LED flash wasn't present in 1st through 4th Generation Touches.
* The iPod Touch does not support Adobe Flash, for accessing Flash-based Web content. (Adobe themselves ceased development of the mobile version of Flash, although I believe they continue to update the desktop/laptop version.)- Answered by Thomas N from Marlborough

Can you turn the Nano screen off while music is playing like on the iPod Touch?
A friend said he couldn't use his Nano while jogging because the screen stays on so the buttons on the screen were always being touched by his clothing and thus changing what he was listening to to a movie, etc. However, I have an iPod Touch and I can start my music playing and then press the power button at the top to turn the screen off while I have it in my pocket. Does the Nano have this same feature?

Answer
Yes you can, however you will need to sync your podcasts from iTunes on your computer since the nano does not run iOS. Therefore it does not permit streaming.

is ipod touch 5th generation good for traveling for movies and games and internet . or mini ipad
- Asked by Gwen W from Zephyrhills
- 28/10/2012
- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerThe screen size of the iPad mini is definitely better for watching movies, playing games, and browsing the internet. If that is all that you will be using it for, then it is a great choice. But if you need something that is also portable, something that you can put in your pocket, the iPod Touch is a great alternative.

No, but you can get cases which are (mostly) waterproof for most if not all iPods, iPads and iPhones. Also, some 3rd party resellers provide a water proofing treatment, which makes your iDevices mostly waterproof. However, this is a paid service, advertised clearly, and is not very widely available. All the same, if all you want is splash resistance, it may be for you.
