using an stereo lapel external microphone

Will an external stereo lapel microphone plugged into the iRig work? I've plugged in the mic into the iphone and it only gives a mono output. But if I used iRig, would this allow a stereo input possible into the iphone? Other mics could be such as a Rode Stereo Videomic.

  • No. iRig is a mono input which converts instrument level audio signals into mic level for the iPhone headset jack mic input, which as you have discovered, is mono. Plugging a mic into iRig won't work, because it is not a microphone preamp. For plugging any standard mic into your iOS device, get iRig PRE instead. It is a studio microphone preamp for iOS devices.
